Hi guys, its been a while since i post here in VJ. i was little stressed up from my Manila journey and all the medical stuff. (specially the immunization) :wacko: just want to share with you my medical Experience at St. Lukes last May 27 & 28, 2008. I passed. weee.. :dance: Thank you for your prayers and support guys. Medical Procedure at St. Lukes Medical Extension Clinic

As of May 27 & 28, 2008

What to bring:

1. Passport

2. Appointment Letter (2 copies)

3. 2x2 photos (3 pcs minimum)

4. Black ink pen (bring extra)

5. Payment for medical fee (P9,387.40) as of May 27, 2008

Optional:

1. Previous X-ray film

2. Print out of this post.

Locating the Building:

1.The building is gray colored and looks more like a Hotel

2.Address: St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic, 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila

3.Office hours: 6:00am – 5:00 pm

4.Telephone 02-521-0020 or 02-521-8647

NOTE: For the convenience of those who come early, the guards may allow them to enter SLEC’s premises as early as 4:30am.

1st Day:

1.Present appointment letter and passport at the entrance.

-guard will check them, return it to you and give you forms to fill-up and give you a number. He will put a stamp on your hand too for easy access of going in and out of clinic.

2.Fill up the forms.

3.Once finished filling up the forms, go to the reception area 1st floor. Wait for your number to be called. You may sit on the chairs provided on that area.

-if your number is called, go to the room behind the US reception counter to have your photo taken.

4.After that, fall in line at the US reception counter, hand your forms, passport and 1 pc. 2x2 picture.

-They will check if you filled up the forms correctly.

5.Go to the cashier at the 5th floor and pay for the medical fee.

6.Go down to the 3rd floor for the chest x-ray.

-Be sure to give your passport and forms to the counter before you take a seat. Or else you’ll be waiting for nothing.

-Once your name is called, you’ll sign 4 forms. Go back and take a seat and wait for your name to be called again,.

-Once called, approach the lady near x-ray room and she will let you sign the logbook. Go to the changing room and wait for your turn.

7.Go up to 5th floor for vital signs, weight & height taking, eye check, and physical exam.

-Approach the table with a sign “Vital signs†hand over your form at the table back of those ladies taking vital signs. Wait for your name to be called and they will determine your height and weight.

-Wait for your name to be called again for eye check up.

-Wait for your name to be called again for vital signs.

-Hand over your forms to the right side of USA reception counter (for physical exam) and wait for your name to be called.

-Once called, they will give you a number and tell you which room to go to. Take a seat near the room and wait for your turn.

Note: this is where you get asked several questions about your medical history which is in your form, and where you must take off all of your clothes.

8.After P.E., go back to the US counter and show them your forms.

9.Go to 4th floor for the blood extraction and pregnancy test. Hand over your forms to the counter and passport. They will give you a consent form to sign. (for HIV testing)

-take a seat, sign the form and wait for your name to be called.

-When called, hand the consent form to them. Take a seat near the lab room (ask if he’s the last person for lab) and people will move by sitting to the next chair until you reach the lab room.

-Once its your turn, they will extract blood at your arm. After that go out and hand your forms and passport to the table near the ladies comfort room. Wait for your name to be called. Once called you’ll be given a urine container and you need to get a urine sample, go inside the ladies comfort room. (this is for pregnancy test)

-After that, take a seat (facing the counter) and wait for your name to be called. They will give the forms back to you, with the result.

Note: For those who are really hungry you may get a quick snack/lunch at this point. When you come back, be sure to ask at the counter if your result is already there. (I not ate the whole day.. tsk tsk tsk :wacko: )

10.Go down to the 2nd floor for immunization interview. Go directly to the Immunization interview table and hand over your forms.

-Take a seat at the back and wait for your name to be called. Then take a seat on front which will be moving from chair to next chair until you reach the last chair.

-The doctor will ask you if you want to get your vaccines at SLEC or in the US. (I told her I’ll have it here because its already included in the payment)

-The doctor will ask if you already had chicken pox, and where the scars are. (have mine on my face)

11.Go up to 3rd floor and hand over your forms to the Check out counter. They will give you the receipt and a stub which indicates the date and time you’ll get your results (usually the following day)

EXPERIENCE: That time, I was told by the lady at the Check out counter “get your results next week since your US embassy interview would still be on June 18, 2008â€, and I told her “I am from davao and I’ll be flying back to davao this week, I cant wait that long. She said “well, just get your results anytime as long as it’s not a day after your interview . Oooh.. that lady was so mean. :angry::bonk:

I went back to the hotel, worried about my results. I told myself I cant sleep without knowing why I cant have my results the next day. So I went back to SLEC :whistle: and asked at the releasing counters “why I cant have my results tomorrow? I thought Medical examination would just be 2 days.â€

The guy asked me, “who told you that?†he is also wondering why.

I told him, “a lady from 3rd floor Check out counter.â€

He called the Check out counter area via phone and asked regarding that. After the talked, the guy told me to go back next day by noon and I can get my results. Yey.. thank God. :yes::innocent:

I finished my 1st day medical by 6:30 pm, the only free time where I had my breakfast, Lunch, dinner as one.

12.Go back home/hotel. Rest and prepare yourself for another long day.

2nd Day

1.Go back to SLEC at the time indicated on your stub.

2.Present your receipt and stub to the lobby guard. And he will check your name on their master’s list in their computer. He will stamp your receipt “IMMUNIZATION AREA 2nd Floor†( i was there by 12noon)

3.Go to the 2nd floor

-hand over your receipt and stub to the Immunization area table.

-Take a seat, and wait for your name to be called.

-Once called, go to the immunization room. Hand over your passport. (I was called at 3:30 pm)

-The doctor will tell you what vaccination she will give to you.

(I had 3 vaccination shots.. MMR, Tdap, and HPV. HPV shot hurts a lot. :wacko: )

POST VACCINATION PRECAUTIONS:

-pain and swelling at site if injection

-fever

-headache

-nausea and vomiting

-boody weakness

-rashes

-itchiness

-difficulty of breathing

4. Go to the 1st floor RELEASING SECTION and wait again for your name to be called. This is the last part. ( I had my results by 4:30 pm)

- Once called, hand your passport and 2 pcs 2x2 photos (with your name at the back of the photos)

- Take a seat again and wait for your name to be called. Once called, the xray film will be given to you together with the vaccination record. Your passport will not be given to you, they will be the one who’ll forward it to the USembassy as well as your other medical results.

NOTE: They will not tell you that you passed or failed the medical examination. Hint : YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN ANY VACCINATION OR EVEN THE XRAY FILM IF THERE IS ANY PROBLEM WITH YOUR MEDICAL RESULTS. :thumbs: If there would be problem you’ll be given instructions for additional tests or requirements prior the immunization.

CONCLUSION: I PASSED! :dance::dance::dance::thumbs::innocent:

another hint that you passed if the guard told you on the second day to proceed to vaccination room at 2nd floor..but if the guard told u to proceed to medical results in ground floor at the start that a no..no...

well well well...if someone wil be that mean to me during my medical exam..she or he will regret being mean to me. <_<

but for all of us, we should always put a smile and be confident talking with this people...especially to these kind of establishments.

That is so true :thumbs: The guard immediately directed me to the 2/F Immunization Area when I went there to get my results last May 27. I was a bit confused at first because the 2 persons lined-up before me were asked to stay at the ground floor and get their medical exam status through the receptionist. I even asked the guard if he gave me the right direction :D as I didn't know that it's one indication if you passed or if you have problems with the results. I'm glad he asked me to go to the 2/F :dancing: relieved!

another hint that you passed if the guard told you on the second day to proceed to vaccination room at 2nd floor..but if the guard told u to proceed to medical results in ground floor at the start that a no..no...
