u can save with gas...but just be careful when driving

Agreed. Those things are deadly if you don't know what you're doing!

It's not Steven on a motorcycle that scares me. It's being outnumbered by cars that don't even look for motorcycles.

With the F350 and all on the road forgetaboutit..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

As a cheaper alternative to driving a car to work. Anyone here ever own or ride a Suzuki Savage? This is a 2001 LS650P - gets over 50 MPG.

Honda Rebel is the right choice for beginners. (homer's advise)

It looks like the wifey cannot be at peace with the idea, so rather than put her nerves through the ringer, I'm not going to ride a motorcycle...for now. We're going to get by with just the one car for now and I'll carpool as often as possible.

I used to own a Kawasaki 440 LTD back in '85 - drove it for about a year before selling it.

This is the Suzuki Savage I was looking at...it's a steal for $2,200. I was going to go look at this morning. :( dammit.

Oh man I wish you didn't say that! My hubby just bought a Suzuki Hayabusa. :crying:

It looks like this one, but a little nicer.

Agreed. Those things are deadly if you don't know what you're doing!

Get lessons first from a well qualified instructor and make sure and wear your helmet.

Life is so strange but it sure keeps you on your toes!!!

I have riden a bike since I was 5 years old, love em. There are two types of motorcyclists

1) who have been in an accident

2) those awaiting their first accident!

1 can be the best bike driver ever, but ya cant control the actions of the automobile drivers! A few weeks back a buddy back in Canada got wiped out by a car making a left turn at an intersection, there wasn't a thing he could do about it, WHAMMM, he was lucky to have survived.

If I was in a smaller city, ya a bike would be fine, but not here in the DC area. I sold mine last year, just wasn't fun/safe to drive

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

My hubby bought a new Harley to ride to work...it has saved us a lot of gas money...but, yeh, I worry about him all the time as I lost my brother in a bike accident, but I know how much my brother loved riding and I would never stop or discourage it, to me it would be a disservice to his memory, he was 39 when he died and never once was interested in driving a car...his accident was a moment of, I guess, distraction.

He was heavily involved in a charity in Edinburgh that instructed young people how to ride safely, the thing that stays with me most is seeing his widow at the funeral tell those young people that if it could happen to him it can happen to any one of them and to always remember him for that.
