This is true but you would still expect at least 2-3 vj member approval per week given the number of members between K3 and IR.

Maybe Vermont is on a slowdown but realistcly i'm looking at the whole process of a 6-8 months timeframe. Anything before that is a bonus as far as i'm concerned.

I would only expect 2-3 VJ member approvals a week if there were 100-150 members filed with Vermont during the month for which processing is currrently primarily being completed. Which month is that and how many VJ members filed with Vermont that month?

Unless you know the answer to both those questions, you're just blowing smoke based on a guess, whining or both. In any event it doesn't help anybody or anything.

Vermont is on a overall slowdown, K-1s, K-3s, CR-1/IR-1s, ROCs, you name it. On our ROC list, we've had one approval since April 26th. James reported earlier this week that it may have something to do with H1B visas, if I remember correctly.

May be it is slow but I was very much surprised to see that May approvals are all for the petition filed in March. Two months only comparing to those long five months that we had to wait back in Fall. And I knew that our wait wasn't the longest. I assumed that overall both VSC and CSC have been working faster!

I agree that VJ is a very small percentage of the applications that go to VSC and CSC.

The H1B probably is a big factor right now, too. My daughter was telling me she was rushing to get her H1Bs in by April 1. (She recruits/hires for a big consulting firm) They pay an immigration law firm to handle H1Bs and also pay the fee for expediting. I didn't know anything about those, but apparently there is a cap on how many can be approved like 65,000 and they get more applications than that on the first day of filing for the next year. So that was April 1, 2008 when everybody wanted to get in on Day 1. Fed EX must work overtime because they have to arrive April 1, but not earlier or they aren't considered. I think they have a random draw of who gets to be considered if they get too many in the first few days. Once they have the drawing, the expedite fee gets them processed in 15 days. The petitions that fall under the cap number go to Vermont and California. So I can kinda see how the workload at VSC and CSC is probably shifted, and our approvals seemed to slow down. Not an expert in this at all, just repeating her experience, so please correct anything that's not accurate.

Maybe the H1 visa's have something to do with it... but those have all been sent off by now and even tho it's the same time each year, many of those who filed last year at the same time were approved very quickly... so maybe not. It's all just really speculation.

We are as impatient as anyone else but honestly... In September we thought it would take 6+ months from NOA1 to NOA2.... then by January we were thinking it could be as quick as a month! So by March (before we even filed) we gave up on trying to speculate about timeframes! We simply hope for the best ...and ok, sometimes quietly curse the U.S. government for not being able to touch either other.

I don't think these people are all just sitting around drinking martini's and saying to themselves 'oh lets let them wait another month or two' . ;) Sure it's tough, but be thankful you didn't file during a fee increase (some of those ppl are still waiting) and I, for one, am quite thankful that Russell is not from a high fraud country that puts you in AP or security checks literally for years! There's so much about this process that is unsure. Each step brings new challenges. That's going to happen regardless. How you deal with it.... well that's up to you. ;)

Ultimately, I think that what we must remember and try to focus our energy on is why we are in this position in the first place... how lucky we are to have found such great love that has already stood the test of distance and time. We'll get there... and when we do we will be that much better because of it!

I think this is one of the best things I have ever read on VJ...thank you so much for posting it! It's so hard sometimes to remember this...when you're three or four months into the wait and there's absolutely nothing. I've been really, really frustrated lately seeing all of the people who filed at the same time as me at VSC getting their visas...and I'm still waiting for my NOA2. But it really is about WHY we are doing this...not how long it takes. Our relationship will be stronger and we will make it through this. A year from now it will be like a bad dream...still horrible to think about, but over.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
