I sent an e-mail to SSA a few days ago and I asked them a couple of questions about K-1 Visa holder getting a SSN after marriage...instead they sent me this link from their website about work authorizations. Please read the entire page before making any comments. I read it 3 times already and I don't know what to say... I'm not going to write my opinion about this. I'll keep it to myself, please do the same. I don't want to hurt someone else' opinion..or feelings. :innocent:

You've not stumbled upon the Holy Grail or anything like that here. The policy document that you were sent is the SSA policy that tells SSA workers that K1 holders are work authorized so they can get a social security number. It has nothing to do with your actual status in terms of legally getting a job, as the Social Security Agency doesn't have any jurisdiction over your employment authorization status.

Many people on the forum advise taking a copy of this policy to a social security office when applying for your social security number. Beyond that, it has no use.
