Hey Stevi- all is well. Hoping that these 3 weeks don't drag. I just want Angel to get that darn visa. How are you doing these days???? When will you be going over to be with Taiwo for his interview?

Hi Caity, it's good to hear from you. I have been thinking of you.

I won't be going over to London for the interview, because I could we could not justify the cost right now. After months of planning, we both encountered a lot of last minute things that are very costly. Taiwo had to ship his car back to Africa, because of course, the steering wheel is on the wrong side for him to bring it to America. It is a very nice car, and he wanted to keep it, so he shipped it to his home country, and it will be stored there until we are able to start visiting Africa. We will then have transportation AND a home there to go to.

As for my side of it, the wind storm that we had here damaged my roof to the point of me needing a new one (as opposed to being able to have it repaired). That really was an unexpected and disappointing occurrence.

In a matter of a few days, we were both a few thousand dollars poorer.

So, I Fedexed the remaining documents to him yesterday, and he will go to the interview alone. :(

I still cannot fathom where our first packet 3 documents disappeared to within the confines of the London Embassy, but as soon as we sent the second one, he received an interview date (via me calling DOS). It was only a matter of 2 days.

So, other than that, everything is going well :)

Good luck with everything Caity. I hope we keep our thread going like the January and February groups are doing. It really makes a difference being able to share and vent with peers.

Until next time,

Stevi

Hi ladies (and gents):

Just stopping by to say that Odai got the visa!

We had some issues (some which was public on VJ, ugh) -- but we worked it out, stronger than ever. He comes on the 8th of November!!

The cash flow is an issue right now ( :bonk: economy), so decided to not to fly out there in December before Christmas and bringing him home. I even considered meeting him in NYC, but :bonk: more money involved. Gotta look for a new place in one of the most expensive cities - San Diego, bah.

jmmr - congratulations on the marriage to Jorge! :)

good luck for those still waiting for interview!

Hi all!

I know I'm not much of a regular poster, but I've posted a few times! :) Just wanted to give the good news that Sid got his Visa today. His interview was very smooth and only lasted 8 mins! I'll be posting a review in the "Reviews: Embassy" section later! His planned POE is Newark, NJ on Friday, November 7th!

It's been a long journey, and I know it's not over completely, but I think the hardest part is now done. So for those of you who are still waiting for that magic word "approved" please don't lose faith - it will happen!!!!

Wishing you all the best on the remaining journey - whatever that may be!!!

Take care

Update on me: Still just waiting for the interview letter. Going to try and restrain myself to calling DOS once a week, lol. So, my second call will be tomorrow. Cross your fingers everyone that they have some good news.

We (my daughter and I) were also planning a trip up in December, to have David's mom meet her soon to be step-granddaughter, so Rhiannon could experience a bit of a Canadian winter.....but it looks like we wont have the money =*( SO disappointed....but if all goes well and he gets the interview he will be flying home on Dec. 19th anyway...so just have to focus on that.

Alright..Stevi, Caity..anyone else still waiting for the visa. We are getting down to the end girls, it's almost here.....keep on keeping on!!

Ok guys...I know this is super late in the game, but as I've said before I'm STILL trying to get everything from my co-sponsor. All I'm waiting on from her is the info from her bank....which she tried to get today and they told her that all they can give is a print out of what she has deposited in the past three months, or an average daily balance for the past year. I got the info no problem from my bank...but we have different ones. This is driving me insane!!!!.

Has anyone had any problems getting this info from their banks, and if so, how did you finally get it?

Thanks gals!

Hi Caity, thank you. I was disappointed for a while, but it will be okay. And, yes, he is planning to come a week after receiving the visa. We are very nervous and praying all of the time now. The interview is one week from today. Thank you for thinking of us.

I did not have a problem at my bank at all. The teller (customer service associate) first looked at me like I was crazy for asking for such, but then I told her that I had called the main 800# and was told that it could be done at my branch location. She then called them as well, and they told her all of the information that she asked for. I thanked her and left. But I think she would not have been so cooperative if I had not told her that I had called the headquarters office ahead of time. I bank with Huntington.

When I went to my bank, I explained what needed to be included in the letter. The woman actually added up all of my deposits from the last year. She also wrote when I opened up my accounts, and the current balance. It took a little bit, but she was very nice about it. Has your co-sponsor explained the situation to the bank?? Maybe they'd understand why she needed it and be able to give her what she needs.

Hey there- I decided that instead of just talking about the wait for the interview... we should have some happy discussions too. I'll start. I'm pretty pumped because my mom had initially told me that she wanted to buy Angel and me a queen bed as our wedding present (I've got a nice twin bed right now.....:P) And so I was thinking that when we have an actual wedding next summer, we'd get a bed. But she recently informed me that she'd buy the bed for us before he got here so that when he lives in my apartment, we don't have to try and share my small twin bed. I got a little excited and went and bought a down comforter last weekend (it was on a great sale!) and now I look at duvet covers for fun.

Ok that's my fun news. Your turn :) Let's make this a happy place!

Good idea Caity:

Well, let's see. Today I went to the IKEA store that just opened recently here, with my "shopaholic" little sister. She loves IKEA, but I have never been a big fan of that type of furniture. Although the quality is good, it all looks cheap and plastic to me (sorry IKEA fans). Plus, the furniture just looks tiny and frail to me. Well, I fell in love on the lower level of the warehouse where all of the household good were (dishes, tropical plants, plastic storage sets, stainless steel cookware, etc) They have this huge sale today, and it was literally like a mad house. The "ugly side" of people was in full effect. Folks breaking line and pushing each other....folks taking 2 of things that were limited 1 per person....People getting 1 per person, THEN going to the car, putting their items in the trunk AND THEN coming back a few times getting the same items (Oooops, I did that too :)

Then, we went out to Perkins for breakfast at 3pm. I love breakfast food during the afternoon and evening hours. After that, we went to different thrift stores, and I found a few nice lamps and wall clocks.

My feet hurt so much now. We started off at 7am and I got home about 3pm. That's an entire work day spent shopping. I think I spent about an entire work-week's worth of money too :(

I have got to occupy my mind while I await Taiwo's interview on Thursday. We have been on the telephone so much this past week practicing interview questions. I told him that he knows more about me and my extended family than I do! It is really funny. He talks to my entire family on the telephone as if he has been a part of the family as long as I have. I talk to his African family just as much. And also all of his British friends.

Well, that's my fun fact for today.

Thanks for this idea Caity.

Hi kids! Looks like the "other" March group is moving along and busy with plans. Just checking in on you guys. I did a fun thing tonight. I met my daughters in Houston at the So You Think You Can Dance tour. Don't know if you watched that show, but we did so it was fun to see all the dancers in person. Had to leave my new husband of 6 days home. We bought the tickets ages ago and I had no idea I'd be married by now. He was fine with it and entertained himself going shopping for things and browsing around places.

Stevi, the interview will be fine. They just chat a little with no hard questions about your family. How did you meet? What does your fiance do? When is the wedding? Easy stuff. I went, but didn't do anything but sit in the waiting room working Sudoku puzzles. I didn't get to participate in any way. I'm wondering what you put on your I-134 question 11 I think it is. It's the part about I will or I will not provide specific support and a place to list specific ways you will support him. Have you read recently about people having problems in London by doing it the way the VJ example says? They want you to check 'I will' instead of checking neither.

I was reading above about the bank information. We didn't do anything from the bank and didn't have a problem in London. Just 2007 tax return and letter from employer stating salary...that was it.

Well, good luck on the interviews coming up. It's an exciting time to be so close to the finish line.
