Ok So i sent off my packet to Jorge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It cost me 93.87 dollars!! OUCH!! He will get it on Thursday at 6:00 PM... WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are shooting for him to come here next weekend!

That is wondeful Maria!! Did it cost so much because it will be delivered so quickly??? I truly hope and pray that Jorge's interview goes smoothly and that he really will be there next weekend! Maybe after his interview, he'd be willing to write to Angel and let him know how it went so that Angel's nerves are calmed a bit and so that his thoughts are more positive. He's having a hard time being 100% pumped about it, because until he has that visa in his hands, he can't be happy. Which has made it difficult for me, because I truly believe everything will work out for us. So does he- but since he's the one that actually has to go to the interview... I guess he feels he needs to think the worst. Anyway... hope everyone is doing well. I moved into my new apartment yesterday, started classes today, and still havent' unpacked one box. My roommate and I ate macaroni and cheese out of gladware containers and used plastic utensils we found sitting in a box. Hmm... I think it's time to unpack.

Hello Caity!

Yea I think it cost so much because of how quickly they would send it to him. It was like the best kind of shipment.... i guess. It is though, because whenever I shipped it through the regular postal service it would take longer than the estimated time.... I hope this time it will be ok.

I was at first thinking that JOrge would have to wait 1 day after his med.... then later I found out he doesn't... i keep trying to tell him that but he wants to be sure. Just in case... i guess. If he can go on Tuesday I am sure he will. He's smart He'll figure that out.

We are right now, this very minute, trying to find plane tickets... he has to work on Sunday... so it's a challenge to fly out sunday, get there sunday and be able to be at the front door monday morning. I didn't know he had to work Sunday...... He said they only gave him 4 days +1 his day off next week... It will work out.

Hi everyone! Glad to hear everything is moving along so smoothly with the rest of you! Just wanted to pass along some awesome advice I got in another board (Regional: South Asia). I posted a question as to what others experience was after submitting Packet 3 - how long to wait for the interview, ect....well someone suggested I call the DOS (Department of State) to find out the interview date after we've waited 2 weeks since the packet 3 was submitted. So I called today - #202-663-1225....I held abt 30 mins for an operator though. Very nice woman asked for my case number and applicants name. She was able to tell me that the interview is scheduled for October 8th at 7:30 am! Packet 4 went out on 22nd August, so if my fiance doesn't get it in about a week, she said to contact the consulate directly. So I suggest if you are waiting for an interview date and it has been abt two weeks since you submitted Packet 3, doesn't hurt to call and see if you can get your date! :-)

Yikes, that's a pricey package, lol, but worth it! How Exciting Maria!!!, I have my fingers crossed for you and Jorge that everything goes smoothly and exactly according to plan!

I mailed the rest of the papers for packet 3 yesterday, should get there Friday, or Tuesday at the latest (I'm gonna go check the tracking, lol). And then David will sign where needed and mail it out immediately WOO HOO!!! We should know when our appointment is in a few weeks.....getting SO dang excited!!!! Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Just wanted to update you guys on our process. I have been super busy getting things ready and trying to find plane tickets and such.

Jorge received his packet today! He said the packet looks good!! He is very, very happy about being soooooo close to being in the states.

Also, we bought a plane ticket for his fligh to Juarez on Sunday. We were able to find one that he is able to work that day and arrive that same day. He leaves at 9:15 PM and arrives at 10:50 PM Sunday Night. It cost $505, but it was a challenge to find one where he can fly that night and get there that night. His goal is to be able to go to his medical on Monday morning and if possible his interview on Tuesday.

I don't know if i have already told you guys all this but just wanted you to know that we have the plane ticket ready, the hotel, and the packet all ready.

All we need now is for it to be Sunday

I am going to get my hair dyed this weekend my natural color! (It's half brown!!) I'm so excited! I want to also buy a pretty dress so i can show up at the airport with a white rose for him I want to look super cute for him!!!!!

I am soooo excited and sooooo nervous too!!!!!!

That all sounds wonderful!!! Sunday will come soon enough It's hard to think that Angel could be coming here in a few weeks too- if it weren't for money that he needs to save up. Oh well, he would distract me too much from school anyway. Maybe it's best. He just got a new job and will be making more money, so we are very happy for that. Now he can save save save for his trip to Juarez!

Anyway- I hope everything goes smoothly for Jorge and that he is here with you in less than a week!! (right? he's coming right away?) How exciting!

I guess they were denied because of her story changing from meeting through the net, to having an uncle in the same city the petitioner lives at.

I met jorge through his uncle a long time ago. In fact, we still communicate every once in a while. Especially since we are so close to finishing this process! he wants to help out with the wedding and work.... OK So they were denied. Do you guys think this is not a legid story?????? I replied to him/her privately and he/she told me that it is very common for family members in the US to pay a USC for the foreigner to come to the states.. I hope this isn't the case. I didnt even think about that!! It's not something that crossed my mind because it is what hapened... you kno???? I think they were denied for changing the story. Could you guys please give me some advice? I will not have him lie and change the story, obviously... but could we be in jeapordy??????????????????????????????

Well, if they first stated that they met on the internet, and then that they met through an uncle... that's kind of odd. At this stage, worrying about that isn't going to help you- because that's simply how you met. Just calm down- and remember to continue to breathe... I think you will be just fine, if you have everthing in order for his interview and proof of a relationship, don't fret. Take a break from visajourney so that you don't find any other posts that put ideas in your head. You'll be fine, Maria

Hi Maria, good to hear you are on top of things and almost there.

Yes, we have to wait for packet 4. I think the majority of Embassies do, don't they? However, packet 4 is merely the interview date info, and I plan to call DOS ahead of time to get that, just to give us another shot of adrenalin. Regardless of calling, we still have to wait for the actual interview date, however.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. It is almost fall! Summer is quickly leaving us!

Well- Jorge leaves tomorrow. He is playing cards "one last time" with all his family tonight. He says he might skip work tomorrow because he feels so nervous. He said today that he couldn't concentrate at work at all, and that everyone at work kept mentioning that he was acting weird; he is very nervous.

The papers that David needs to submit for packet 3 are still in transit to him. I've been tracking them and they ARE in Canada at this point and we are REALLY hoping that they will be there tomorrow, and he'll mail them out on Tuesday. His medical is booked for the 24th, and we are hoping to have the interview letter by then...cause the doctor's office requires that =/ I hope that we wont have to reschedule =( So yeah, that's where we are as of today.

I am SO nervous/excited for you guys!!!!! I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when David goes for his interview...I'll probably have to be sedated! lol.
