I told you that there would come the time when I would encounter a kink in the road....

Well, just for the heck of it, I called DOS again today to confirm that NVC did indeed change Taiwo's address way back when I requested it 2 weeks ago.

When the nice lady read the address back to me over the telephone, it was a combination of Taiwo's old address and his new address. :o WT....?

Anyhow, I got this complete and frustrating run-around with the London Embassy, because you have to pay 16 freakin' dollars to make the call if you live outside of the UK. Then, once the operator comes on to take your credit card info, you tell them it is concerning a K1 immigrant visa, and they immediately tell you that they don't take immigrant visa calls, just non-immigrant visa calls. If I have an immigrant visa call, the beneficiary who lives in the UK has to call the London Embassy customer service number, because it is cannot be accessed from the US.

Then I find out that once Taiwo calls the Embassy from the UK, he can give them the information about the address change, but that he should also email the Consulate. BUT he has to have the "secret email code" in order for the email to be accepted, because if you send it without the code, the automatic rejection email is generated and spits right back into my email inbox.

I am rambling now..... but to make a long story short. We had DEVINE INTERVENTION, because I took a chance and just emailed the consulate without the email code, and lo and behold 4 minutes later, I received an email response directly from the immigrant visa office, giving me a receipt number and telling me that the address change was accepted and that Taiwo would be receiving a new packet 3 at his new address within a few days.

I was so happy that I responded to the government email with a "Thank You." It was rejected, but it felt good to send it.

Of course, seeing is believing, so we shall see if/when Taiwo will actually receive packet 3.

Well, that is how my week started. Thanks for letting me vent.

Ah......I feel better

Here are some pictures; they are kind of huge but it's the best I can do. I still haven't decided whether or not I should take it. The bedroom is the small room. I dont know why I didn't take one of the master bedroom but it is NICE. It even has a walk-in closet!!!! WOOHOO I am happy about it, but I think I am going to have to pass this one up. :crying::dead: I think it still is too soon to move, even though she will wait until the 1st of sept. I think WAY too much. I am driving Jorge and my family crazy. The thing that really gets me rocking is that it is mont-to-month....which means I can back out if I need to. But still...big risk!

Thank you, Maria for your kind words. You have no idea of how much I derive from your posts too. Your outlook on life is so refreshing and lively.

However, I have already reached "old" but I am still young at heart, so I will accept "youth" vicariously. :)

I like the apartment. It looks really clean and crisp.

I hope everyone else is doing great too.

Where is my little sister Angelbelle? I miss you (from Ate Stevi)

Where are all of my family?

Hello everyone!

Maria- The pictures of the apartment look nice! So- have you decided for sure that this is the department? What does Jorge think about it?? When it he hoping to go to CDJ for his interview?

Stevi- I am glad to see that you were successfully able to change Taiwo's address. Although it was a small bump in the road, it sure is a good thing that you decided to call the DOS to make sure of the address change, huh?? If not... his packet would be on it's way to some address that doesn't even exist.

Angel and I were talking to one of his friends about this whole process, and his buddy asked him when he'd be able to start working in the US. I wasn't entirely sure... and after a minor panic attack, we came online to research it. I'm still a bit confused, but I get the overall picture I think. I think I have a few places to call once I get back to Wisconsin- to find out if he DOES need a SSN to get married, because I think that sure would slow down the whole process. We want to get legally married ASAP when he gets here so that he can get to working. I will still be a poor college student and won't be able to support him... ahh. But- we have time and all this will work out for us.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been around much lately, but I'm still here. I *think* that our petition arrived at Ciudad Juarez last week, because I tracked a package going from the NVC to Ciudad Juarez on the day the NVC said ours left... and it arrived in Ciudad Juarez the 8th I think? Hopefully it's ours!!

I took a little break from gathering all the interview materials, but I'm going to start up again this week. When I leave Mexico on the 29th, I want to have everything ready for him (minus the papers that I will need to send him once I'm back in Wisconsin). Sooo that will give me something to do this week. Made donuts with his mom last night, that was fun :)

Well, I'm off for now, hopefully be back soooon! Take care everyone and hope everyone is doing very well!!

Nathalie and I are still working on scheduling the interview...kinda frustrated about that since we are kinda on a time crunch...but...I do have some news to report. I got a call from the apartment place today and we got the apartment. So I'm kinda happy about that. I guess my credit was good enough so I only need to put down $200 for a security deposit. I sign all the paperwork this friday and I'm allowed to move in on Saturday.

Maria - good luck on your apartment!! :)

That's awesome that you are approved bevs!!! YAY!!! COngratulations!!! It's about time :dance::dance::dance:

Congratz on your apartment Josh!!! I still haven't decided whether or not to take the place. IT"S PERFECT but I'm so scared of failure that I drive myself insane  I actually told myself yesterday that I was not going to take it; I even told my co-workers that I am not taking it... THEN on my lunch break, I called a different place about an apartment that is 650... I drove by it and realized how much a better deal i would be getting at this 760 one.... ugh so much frustration. I even got the chance to show it to my dad today... the landlord told me to help myself in to show him, that she trusted me :) which is very nice of her. (she wasn't there to show it, but the door was unlocked  ) He LOVED it. He is even willing to help me out with the first couple months in case Jorge's case gets delayed.... I am so scared though..... Jorge and I talked about it, and he tells me to get it because I will regret not doing so. It's hard to find a good deal nowadays.... SOOOOOOOOOOOO We'll see. I have to admit that I am 21 year old girl with gray hairs.... no joke! I stress out too much.

I have NO idea what is going on with our case yet. Jorge will call Thursday to see if they sent off our Packet 3. We're hoping to get it no later than 2 weeks from today. *crossing fingers* I am going to the court tomorrow to see if I can get a certified copy of my birth certificate since i have my real one. Hopefully they are able to do that for me. I am starting to really get anxious since we are so close. Even to the point of giving up! It's too much for me!! So far I have filled out his forms and saved them on my computer. The only one is 156 k cuz it won't let me save a copy? It's weird.

I hope everyone has a great day. I think tomorrow is Wednesday already???? THAT WAS FAST!!!!! I have a dentist appointment tomorrow :crying::unsure:

I really want this place. I want to risk it!!! But I hope I don't regret it later. I think it's perfect in everyway!!! EVERYTHING. I cannot find one flaw. If I take it, and all goes smoothly...i would be so thankful to God. I feel that he put it in my path for a reason..... especially since it is month to month basis...i can sneak out if an emergency occurs...... 760 is not bad for what it is. And it is affordable if jorge works too. I have the deposit/first month in my pocket, then i get financial aid that will cover the 2nd month (October) and he should be here to pay for November and so on..... it may actually work perfectly. We'll see. I have to really think this one through. I need to pop out a few more gray hairs  I would love to have the time to decorate the place a little bit so that it's homey. Maybe...

Thanks for reading my rambles again :)

Maria

Kisees!

Hey Maria,

I hope that you are able to calmly think over the whole apartment situation. I'm not sure what the winters are like where you live, but I know that from the apartment shopping I've done- it's makes a big difference if heat is included in the cost of rent. It makes a big difference if ANYTHING is included in the rent. I know this winter, I practically went without heat (in Wisconsin....) because my roommates and I didn't want to pay a huge heat bill. Also, that is good that it's a month by month thing. Have you thought about waiting to get the apartment until Jorge actually arrives here, that way everything is for sure? I know it would be nice to have an apartment ready for him when he comes, but it's just a thought.

How was your dentist appointment today? Routine checkup or something more unpleasant?

I have no idea what is going on with our case either... I'm just going to enjoy my few weeks in Oaxaca and then I'll start freaking out once I'm back in Wisconsin. haha.

Bevs- Congratulations on the NOA2, that is wonderful news!!!

Josh- I'm glad you've found an apartment for the two of you!!

I hope that everyone is staying calm and collected during this whole process. I was thinking yesterday- what a wonderful story we will have to tell to our children someday... ahh

Take care everyone :)

Caity

Well, we have our interview scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th at 12pm. That's cutting it close. Hopefully she can get the visa later that week. Other couples coming from Costa Rica seem to have been able to get them a couple days after the interview....soooo...we'll see what happens. Normally, I'd wait a week, but I'd really like to take advantage of that extra day off for labor day.
