today i got the terrible news that my fiance was electrocuted in his own house by terrible wiring while simply changing a light bulb.

we were so close to getting him over here, but now i can only cry and try to hold onto my fond memories.

for some reason today i put on the colors of his santo, and put on the bracelet he gave me and then i got a terrible email from his cousin in spain, who assumed i had already heard, so it was a condolence email, but i had no idea what he was talking about, or at least i was trying to deny that it could be real. then i called his friend in havana and it was all confirmed.

enjoy every day, and share your love while you have the chance.

best wishes to you all in your journey to being united with your loved ones.

rest in peace Alexis Merino Hechavarria, mi hombre, mi amor, mi querido.

I'm so sorry Barbara. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Please know that you're probably going to hear people say some very thoughtless things to you in the next year or so. We as humans have trouble seeing our loved ones and friends sad and so say some pretty stupid things. People always do, but know that they mean well.

Give yourself a lot of time to grieve and mourn Alexis. Even though you were still in the middle of the visa journey, your love for him is deep and you need to allow yourself to grieve as you need to. We mourn our loved ones based on our attachments; there are no rules. Don't expect yourself to remember much right now. You might even just feel very numb for a while. That's fine. Whatever comes up is fine and however long you need is fine. ANd talk about Alexis as much as you need to. Feel free to come here to talk about him. We're all still here for support if you want it. The people who truly love you will be with you.

Again, I am so sorry,

Heather
