I was thinking if anyone is in the area and can go it might be fun. I know we'd like to, but Joel works every weekend and if he gets off in time we might try to go down for a bit. The email address for this group, if you're interested in getting future announcements regarding Canadian get togethers in the area is atlcanadians@gmail.com

Thanks, Karen,

I got the email too. I am not sure if Joe and I will be going - it really sounds more like a bar party type of event - at least the pictures from last year's event looked like that - and that isn't really our style, but we will discuss it. I would still be very interested in some sort of a VJ get together, though.

I didn't even know about this event. I just told my husband and the 1st thing he says is, "do you wanna go?" After reading Kathryn's response, I don't know if I want to go if its like a bar party lol. I guess if it'll be more of a VJ get together for us here in Georgia and everyone is going, I'll go. I guess just keep this thread open and I'll see who else is going.

When I went back and read the email, I have to agree...it does sound more like a bar party and TBH Joel and I aren't that interested. However, there has been talk of having a VJ gathering for those here and around Georgia. I wouldn't want it to sound like I am excluding anyone. :) Right now it's just in the talk stages...no definite date has been set. If anyone has any ideas, please post them! The idea I had was to have one here at one of the many state parks up here in the NE GA mountains. Lots of room, lots to do, and the state parks are very family friendly.

I went last year and it was fun. It is at a bar, so yes, there is drinking. But it starts early in the afternoon and is very family oriented for the first several hours. I'm not sure what it's like later in the evening since I left after a few hours. So if you want to go but aren't much into drinking, just show up earlier. I had some poutine, drank some molson, and just watched the kids have a blast playing hockey.

I will be attending this year, and thankfully my lovely wife will also be able to attend. If anyone else is going and wants to meet up, feel free to drop me a message ;)

I don't think I'll be able to attend it this year. With money being pretty tight and my son's 5th birthday on the 29th, we won't have the time. Hopefully next year, or if there will be some kind of VJ get together sometime in the future, I'll be more than happy to go.
