This endorsement also makes me wonder exactly how liberal Barack really is. Murdoch is not known for associating with, or endorsing left wing politicians.

Read the endorsement in the NYP for crying out loud. It's hardly much of a note of support for the IL Senator's positions but rather the endorsement of a "fresh start" vs. "déjà vu all over again".

I dunno - didn't he endorse Blair against the tories back in 97?

Murdoch made a lot of money from "deja vu all over again" so I doubt he really cares that much for Obama's "fresh approach" other than he thinks it will help sell his papers and news channel. I guess it means he is predicting a big victory for him in November. Pretty much the same reason he supported Blair in 1997. Murdoch's overriding idealogy is not "right wing" but whatever he thinks will make money.

I agree his politics are probably secondary to his profitability model.

Exactly.

Yes, but would he vote for, or consider voting for something that would lead to a loss of profit? We are led to beleive that the Dems through Barack will make some rather sweeping social changes - at least that appears to be what people are voting for - but I can't see Rupert voting for something that would for example lead to significantly higher taxes. What was Blair's New Labour Party? Bigger picture people.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

In other words, Barack is not as anti-establishment as we are being told which was my position all along.

Anti-establishment and wanting to change the establishment are different things imo.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

True - but so are saying you'll do these things when you have actually no plan to do it. I think that's Barack's problem - laying out an actual plan that will facilitate the sorts of sweeping changes he claims he can deliver.

There is some stuff on his website about creating lobbyist databases and so forth, but nothing that's seems to be particularly transformative in light of the claims he's making.

Neither HC or JM are doing any different of course - the rhetoric is flowing fast and free, but Barack does seem to be making some sort of explicit promise in his talk of "change". In all honesty that is a problem.

interesting twist. the same media moguel who is accused of manipulating the press to beat the war drums now is pushing for "a change" campaign. woah-sinister forces at play for certain.
