Hi All

I have made it into the US !! Now for the bad news... enroute at a conntection I lost my passport that had my visa on it :( Not sure if it matters becasue I have already sued teh visa to enter... quetsion is, can I still get a SSN without my passport? I have applied for a new canadia passport but it takes 4 weeks!!!

Ring the airline ASAP! If you lost it on the plane, then there might be a good chance that the cleaning crew would have found it and reported it. As far as I know airlines will keep lost items up to six months. But since it's a passport, they might send it back to a Canadian consulate. Unless you have another form of official ID, you might not be able to apply for a SSN without it since it contains your I-94.

I lost my US passport on a plane once, then got it back in the mail a few weeks later. It was missing a souvenir bank note from Bangladesh but otherwise all was good. I'd definitely call the airline.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

My son lost his passport at the North Carolina airport. A kind employee found it and they mailed it back to us a few weeks later. Call the airline. Call the airport.

I would also report it missing immediately. Worse case, you have to apply for another through the embassy in D.C. You may also have to apply for another I-94. You may also have to make an infopass appointment.

i agree with katz.. you need your I-94 to apply for your card.. they need picture id too and the passport would have helped... :unsure: ... i pray all goes well
