DS-230 Questions regarding when to send the documents requested.

Hi fellow Vjers-

I have a couple questions for everyone (specifically anyone who worked with the Frankfurt consulate). I am in the process of gathering all the DS-230 items, but I am horribly confused. On the Germany (US embassy) website, it says not to submit anything and wait until the interview date. It says I should submit the DS-2001. The checklist form. I don't want to wait to receive the package from the NVC with all the directions because that could take forever! What do I do with all the paperwork that goes along with the DS-230. Anyone know if I send it all in, or do I hang on to it until the interview process?

Thanks and kind regards,

Przy

This is what you need to do. First go to the DOS link and look up Frankfurt, then click on applicant's civil documents and that will show you a list of the documents you need to send the NVC with the DS-230.

You DO have to wait for the NVC to send you the DS-230 coversheet, you SHOULD NOT send them anything before then or it will delay the process and you might end up having to send them again.

Also, based on your timeline, it looks like you haven't paid the IV Bill yet. You won't get the DS-230 until you have paid the bill. And you won't get the IV Bill until they process the DS-3032 which you just sent on Tuesday. It takes them about two weeks to process it.

In the mean time, read as much as you can in the NVC forum so you can familiarize yourself with the process at the NVC, especially now that you can pay these bills online and it will cut your waiting time by almost half.

Thanks for the reply. I know already how the processes work though. I am waiting for the IV bill to generate and once paid, the coversheet is available then too. We only have to wait until it has been processed and the system says the DS-230 is being generated. At that time, the paperwork can go out. As I have seen in so many other timelines, once the IV Bill is "paid" you can send the DS-230 out the same day. I am just questioning which documents must go. Germany says the same documents as those shown by James's shortcuts etc. Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

Anyone have any pointers? What papers will I have to send to the NVC if my acse will then go to Frankfurt after being approved? I have read everything twice and then two times again. I understand what has to be obtained, but I am reading all over the place on "official sites" that I have to send in the DS-2001 and not my documents. Oh well. Any help, anyone?

If it helps, I've got 2 original copies of everything.

One set with a photocopy of them too is going with the DS-230 to be processed by NVC, as they require the originals too and a photocopy of each .... and I have the second set for the Embassy if NVC lose or don't forward the originals to London .... which they are supposed to do.

Bit of a costly pain in the butt, but it's better to be safe than get an RFE for not sending the docs .... which can cost even more time.

Yeah, that's got to be a costly, but good idea. I'd rather save time than money in this case though.... Thanks Sarah! :)
