That's why I want Rey's job to transfer him to somewhere just like Alabama. They have to keep paying him the same, but wow it might go a lot farther. We saw we could have a mansion with a pool for our rent here. This is a wistful little conversation we've had many times here. :)

i don't think you'd fit in too well in alabama.

I don't know about that. I have cousins in Huntsville, it's nice and quite metro.

Nothing like Manhattan but then again she's from Wisconsin isn't she? :P (or minnesota, I always get them confused)

it would be culture shock to her :P

In real life I do get along pretty well with those with different views, though. And in a place where just a few have their hearts in the right places, it's easier to find each other. :)

The drawback is that if he decides to leave his job, there's not a lot of opportunity at his level so he'd have to move.

Yup and in my mind that is a huge drawback to that area. To lots of the cheaper areas, actually. Land is worth more in our areas for a very good reason.

Yeah - that's what I tell myself. Although at the current career path I'm on, my only realy options are LA or NYC so here I will remain. For the time being at least.

I just googled it. They've got "Alabama Atheists," "Alabama Committee to Abolish the Death Penalty," and some good arts in some places.

But actually, I want to move to Atlanta in a few yerrs.

This is awesome!!!

My job confines me to large corporations (eta: or governments...) with huge IT budgets, lol. I have options down south - Dallas, Charlotte and Atlanta come to mind.

I actually know a guy who transferred down to Greenville and commutes there from a home he bought near Charlotte. He said his commute is over an hour and he never ever hits any traffic. He moved down there from the Hudson Valley region in NY so that was a huge culture shock! Big empty roads, imagine that.

We drove to Charlotte from Spartarburg with my brother's gf and she complained about the traffic. I'm like "you call that traffic?" I consider anything where you can actually drive the speed limit to be light.

Driving on big empty roads brings tears to my eyes.

The thought of being able to do it every day... is near orgasmic.

I already feel the same way and I don't even drive. Apparently I'll have that experience this summer.

I think fantasizing about cheap realty and no traffic is an official East Coast/LA pastime, huh?
