Police reports from Minas Gerais

Any Mineiros out there who've already acquired their police reports from the Secretarias de Segurança Pública? I'm wanting to know if it has to be requested in person or can it be requested by phone? Also, if it has to be requested in person, is Belo Horizonte the only location to acquire one?

My fiance has to travel quite far to Belo Horizonte so it would be nice to not have to travel so far.

in person. He can always call them see if there is any other way. But as far as I'm concenred, you need to either go in person or have someone there with a power of attorney to do that for him.

Fernanda went in person. She lived about 20 minutes from Belo Horizonte in Santa Luzia. But in your case, a phone call is worth a try.

Did you make sure there isn't a closer one? NVC sent me a list of offices to get the police certificate form, and it was very outdated. Some office on there are no longer open, but several offices were closer to my husband's small town and they were not on the list.

We sent a power of attorney down for my husband's aunt to obtain them.

My fiance told me that he called Belo Horizonte and was told that they no longer process this document and that he has to obtain the document from his home town in MG. If your fiance was able to obtain the police report, then maybe my fiance was misinformed.

Would your fiance happen to have the telephone number and address in Belo Horizonte?

After receiving the reports, you need to go to a cartorio and register (Notarize) the documents.
