Admin Processing

Good Morning VJers!

I called the NVC this morning to find out the status of our case. I was told by the gentleman Barney that the case was complete as of 5/1, but that we are on Admin. Processing. I thought this usually happened at the consulate level. Anyone else familar with this??

I'm pretty sure AP can be at the NVC or Consular Level, because security checks are performed at all levels, including USCIS... but the USCIS will just delay NOA2 and call it "security clearance"... he may have had a name hit, or they are checking criminal records, or if he is affiliated with any kind of terrorist/extremeist group.. the political climate in Iran isn't helping any.. but we can only wish you a speedy approval...

Thanks iceyspots! I am just hoping this goes through quickly. We even waited an extra 2 weeks to get his police clearance from Iran. He isn't affiliated with anyone other than a local gym lol. Other than that I will just have to sit tight and see how long it takes.

Each country has their different way of searching records and databases for criminals/crimes of moral turpitude... ETC... so.. it depends on the country, and how efficient their database/records system is...

I wonder if this is becaue Iran does not have its own embassy? Iranian applicants go through Turkey and I have heard its difficult for another country to do security checks.

Hmm... maybe! That would be a relief if it is just standard protocal. I think I will run around VJ and see if I can find anyone else from Iran/Turkey that have had the same problem. I keep reading where people are in AP for a year. In that case, I will have to move to Iran!!

I'd probebly have to say that with current events going on, Iranian applicants will undergo alot of scrutiny. My fiance and I got an interview date of 2/2/2007 and we are filing out of Jordan. I don't think there is one country in that region that has a quick turn around time for visas.

I know that all of us wish nothing more than a speedy process, but I think that anyone that files out of the Middle East gets kinda screwed. I hope you find answers but keep in mind that we are all in this for the long haul. I have been able to find lots of support here from the wonderful members of the M/E N/A forum and we are all here to cheer you on.

I called NVC to ask a couple questions and she said that they don't put people on AP just for being from the Middle East, it is just random. Somehow reading through all of these posts, it doesn't seem that way! I almost seems as if "after 9/11" has become an excuse for everything! If they don't know the answer they say "after 9/11......" Oh dear, sorry I am ranting!

That is my sentiment exactly!!! Although she was quite nice so I didn't disagree. But she said that ME and Asian countries put on AP are random, What is random when she lists the 2 biggest sections that get AP???

LOL, I think ALL OF US would highly disagree with that lady How do they explain the fact that most ME countries are on a differnt list?
