my hubby bought some milk today and I just went to use it and I notice something funny about it and then I smelled it.. yup it was bad.. the best before date on the jug is June 15th...

Do you think they will let me exchange it?

need to teach hubby to always check the best before date and to grab the milk further back on the shelf :P

what is shortening?

it is like lard... but shortening is kind of like a solid vegetable oil....

what did you use in your last pie crust?

shortening or lard is what gives you the flaky crust...

I think I used butter, I don't remember. I'm always great at fillings but suck on doughs. I remember my sister's grandmother used to make the best chicken pie crust, and when she was preparing, she would have to put piece by piece on the baking pan, one of those that opens the side, you know? It was not like she would stretch the dough in one piece, that was impossible cuz it was very flaky. And I know she used what we call in Brazil banha de porco, which would translate to pork fat, :lol:

I'll try to buy that crisco, i'll put it on my shopping list.

oh, and if I don't like the pie i'll mail it to you and demand a refund :P
