I sometimes use a mixture of shortening and margarine/butter... I find if I just use shortening in the cookies it just doesn't taste quite right

well, i do half and half usually... my recipe calls for 1 cup of shortening or margarine..

hmm, for 3/4 cup you could do like 1/2 cup shortening and 1/4 cup margarine/butter.....

oh wait one sec.. read your post as 3/4 cup..
