Awww bless (((hugs)))

Things will pick up, that is for sure. After rain comes sunshine (L)

Just fill me in quickly about your story - you are the USC and your bf is the Australian? Where in Australia is he from?

Thank you. Some days are just horrid.

John is the USC a dairy farmer in Michigan, I'm the Aussie, from Melbourne.

Grew Up Boronia & Mooroolbark, then lived Tynong North, North East MD, Houghton NY, East Troy WI, Croydon, Millpark, Fairfield, Viewbank, Niddrie / Essendon and finallly Flemington for the last 5 years when I left the country to Cape Town, South Africa (where my folks are based for 2 months), then to John for 3 months Bangor, MI and finally here to Edinburgh since May 3.

We met in a chat room on our mobile phones. When we met I was headed to the UK, when we decided to get married at that stage there was a slow down in Australia b/c of the consulate close down, so I came to the Uk on an ancestry visa hoping it would be quicker.

Ahh, I see. All my friends say that Edinburgh is very close to Melbourne (people, atmoshpere etc.) - is that true? I have never been to Edinburgh, so I can't tell.

I just know that I love Melbourne and that I miss it every day. Although I didn't live there very long (about a year). I lived in Fitzroy and in Collingwood, so that was also just a perfect location...I love Brunswick Street, going for breakfast, go window shopping, grab a fresh juice from the juice bars...going to the city (CBD lol ), Queen Vic markets...*sigh* the people, the food, the culture...just miss it. And the cheesy TV ads!!

I can imagine it must be hard for you being away from home. I hope your visa gets approved fast, I keep my fingers crossed for you!

Mobile chat rooms? The ones they advertise on TV - the "text CHAT to 636363 and meet sexy singles on your mobile phone" chat rooms? Really?

Similar I think (haven't actually done that though) I was playing around with the internet on my phone and there is some content only available to mobile phones and there was this one called 'Fast Flirting' you have a basic profile screen name age location and the option for a 30 letter or less caption. You then click on someone and ask if they want to flirt. You get 10 mins and then it goes back to the beginning. And to be completely cliche the rest as they say is history.

I miss the CBD, Hardware Lane, Flemington, Swantson Street, St Kilda (Acland Street), Lygon street, the Spring Racing Carnival, the botanical gardens, hanging out at fed square all the events, the footy, Flinders Street, The Queen Vic, the trams the parks, my community. I miss Smith Street, Retro etc etc, Healsville, Lilydale. The Yarra Valley and the wineries etc

I don't think it's bad. Enjoy it before you leave!

Thanks Amber! Oh, and I fully intend to - it's going to be a couple of months of concentrated, frantic socialising with old friends and family members. :)

Free food

Well, my mother asked if I could contribute towards food costs while I was there, which I think is only fair, but I'm certainly looking forward to the meals she makes! Mm, and I'll have proper Sunday roasts again, too!

:D How long were you in England for?
