I have flown AeroSvit several times... They are not necessarily any worse than some US based airlines.... I speak from personal experience as well being a former airline employee.. :)

I must be spoiled then :innocent: Most of my trips to U.S. were during college and I fully took advantage of ISIC student discount, flying mostly British Airways half price... Therefore you can understand my feelings while on Aerosvit flight past December :). Well, he flew Delta last time and it seemed ok... Plus they have that direct flight JFK-KBP

You just have to get use to the higher costs now. My stepson is flying to Kyiv in July. Even though we bought his tickets in February we still had to pay almost $1,800 for his roundtrip from San Francisco to Kyiv. At least the international flights are still serving meals. I have a six hour domestic flight next week, San Francisco to Boston that has no meal. Pretty soon they'll be charging us extra for the air they supply on the plane.

Try this place in Detroit, aatravelinc.com, it is run by Ukrainians and Russians, and they can somehow find pretty good prices on flights to Kiev usually. Also if you look for tickets go online and search late tuesday (12 am)nights up until thursday nights late at 12am, airlines normally cut rates in half during those days of the week for sale. Otherwise Friday through Tuesday afternoon you pay out the A _ _ ! There are two ladies in aatravelinc, check with Oksana or Galina.

DO NOT FLY AEROSPIT! IT IS HORRIBLE and TRULY SUCKS, you were warned, stay away from them.

I would try flying 1) Lufthansa 2)Austrian Airlines 3) KLM 4)British Airways 5)United 6)Delta 7)Ukrainian Air into Ukraine at Kiev, these listed are usually with lowest prices and on time unlike Aeropsit!

Bad thing for you is that anyone flying to Ukraine from starting in March to August usually has to pay double or triple what you can at other times of the year. Usually when I go in Summer months even with booking in advance it is always double the price or more, sometimes lowest price is found flying during tuesday through thursday, and stay away from flying in on a weekend when the rates are much higher. Good luck.

Wow, thanks a lot for info, especially for times to book! Will def. pass it all to my fiance! And I did warn him bout Aerosvit, since my last inboud flight from JFK was with them, and it truly sucked. My personal favourite is British Airways, service is great and they have flight directly from Orlando to Kiev through London, with an option to see UK's capital :).

Well, it depends how you want to fly.

If you want to purchase airfare from Ukraine to USA, you could use Expedia or Travelocity.

But if you want to purchase airfare from USA to Ukraine, it depends what city you want to fly from. If you depart from New York, you could use Aerosvit, Delta or NWA. But if your departure city is Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, and other cities further from the East coast, it it better to use following websites:

http://www.fare-shopper.com/

http://www.aatravelinc.com/

http://www.nedorogo.com/

http://www.travelpapa.com/

All these websites are using the same search engine so you do not have to research all of them. The cost is the same on all of them and it is significantly cheaper then other websites.

If your destination in Ukraine is other than Kiev, use aerosvit website for the ukrainian internal flights or you could use autoluks bus:

http://www.autolux.ua/russian/schedule

NWA does not fly out of JFK to any European destination.... It might be Delta in disguise.

You might be surprised but it does. The merge between NWA and Delta is not completed yet. So NWA are still partners with KLM Dutch Airlines. They fly from Detroit and New York to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam to Kiev the KLM Airlines will be used.

As an former NWA emplyee I still stand by my statement... NWA does NOT fly JFK to KBP... however, KLM does but as you mention via AMS... Air France (via CDG), Lufthansa (via FRA), British Airways (Via LHR) all do as well but NOT direct... The only direct flights are AeroSvit and Delta.

I did not say that NWA flies directly to Kiev. In my previous statement I said they fly to Amsterdam. And then their partner KLM Airlines are used from Amsterdam to Kiev.

Hmmmm.......

If you depart from New York, you could use Aerosvit, Delta or NWA.

Out of JFK you will not depart on a NWA aircraft for an international flight.
