No offense, but this guy's a maroon. If he was sincere about finding out those answers, he should interview a theologian. I think it's funny when people assume that having faith requires a suspension of their intellect, which is ironic considering how so many of history's greatest thinkers believed in God.

I was going along pretty good until he started insisting that if you do believe in a God you are automatically dilusional. I do not think this is the case at all. Nor did he attempt to explain how we came from nothing. I agree with the scientific aspect of his claims but still feel that there are somethings we cannot scientifically explain away.

I will add that the license plate on my truck is LETS ROLL in honor of Todd Beemer and co. for their actions above and beyond prayer when attempting to regain control of Flight 93. Many lambs sat in their seats and prayed for God's help and intervention. The only proper course of action was to take action, not pray for God's mighty hand to swoop from the sky and gently set the plane on the ground.

I just always had those same thoughts, I wish God would cure amputees? Why does he not help with the starving babies? It is always been confusing for me.

I have several times, still don't know why God would need to test a human being, he is all knowing, so he should know that Job is a good man, why kill is wife, his children, and put him though all that, to test his love? That just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.

One of the difficulties of maintaining a christian position is that if you cite the bible as your source of ideology you are forced to try to defend some very difficult positions that often contradict one another. I personally would be tempted to disregard most of the old testament in favour of the new testament which at least seems to be an attempt to portray christianity as a faith where compassion is the over riding sentiment.

Free will is a partial answer, but it really doesn't explain very adequately natural disaster and disease. It's all very well to say "just do the best with what you have got" or "having a child with x horrible disease is god's way of teaching you x lesson" and of course the promise that "this world it's just a pathway to the next, more perfect 'world' where these children/babies/'inoncent victims' will reap their just rewards'.

However, the problem I have with that is that it appears to me like a man made construct. Accepting 'one's lot' as it were - in terms of accepting the clearly horrific conditons that some people have to endure of pain and suffering because of a promised better 'existance' later makes the life of the ruling classes a bunch easier than if one were to be ordained to strive to have a 'better life' in the here and now.

There are a lot of problems with the 'suffering in this world' arguments that I have difficulty with.

Not least, I think it allows mankind to be ineffective dealing with our fellow man. We don't strive to achieve a reasonable life for everyone in the world, at least in so far as that is even possible, we use whatever arguments we can to ensure that our life is comfortable even if it is at the expense of others.

I find it odd actually, you have these conservative christians who don't want to pay taxes, think they have no responsibility towards their fellow Americans because of 'personal responsibility' (I guess that's 'free will' though I am not sure) let alone any desire to encourage other countries to be sustainable. Many would prefer to abolish both the UN and the declaration of human rights because they 'serve no useful purpose'. It just all seems very contradictary to me.
