Peter received his green card in the mail today. WOO HOO!

Something sort of interesting...if you look VERY carefully on the back of it....there are pictures of all the U.S. presidents on it...I think that's what they are anyway. Along with his photo, thumbprint, a picture of the statue of liberty, the United States, and the seal of the Department of Homeland Security. Lots of other stuff and I can't quite make out what they are. SERIOUSLY security enhancing features I think. Just thought it was interesting!

Scott's AP arrived in the mail yesterday, woohoo! One day after the EAD card arrived. So that is awesome. We didn't get any email updates with AP, which I find a little surprising since everything else seemed to be working online for us. But also not surprising since this seems to be a common thing with USCIS. Anyway at least these 2 are approved and we can relax now. :)

Jen and I just received email stating her card had been ordered. Said it could take up to 30 days but from reading on here, I guess we can expect it any day now. Still nothing on the AP but, again, that looks like we may not hear anything until it arrives in the mail. Congrats to all who are becoming permanent.

Anybody else from the June filers receive an RFE at any point? I saw one poster did and he/she just received approval for his/her EAD a couple days ago. I assume that poster hasn't heard anything about the AP, which is what my wife is really interested in. It sounds like it is still going to take forever. We've had no approvals for anything.

How long is it taking for the EAD and AP to arrive in the mail after approval?

I filled my AOS package on June 18th

I have received RFEs as well, they were regarding affidavit of support documents. I got that RFE notice right after my biometrics were done.

It took me like 4 weeks to gather what they were asking for.

I already received AP/EAD approval e-mails on 4th Sept.

So, despite 4 weeks of delay caused by RFEs I still received EAD/AP approval at the same time as the other mid/late-June filers.

As soon as I receive EAD card and AP in mail I will let you know.

Really? Our RFE was about the affidavit of support as well. And I returned the information to them in less than a week. So I guess this delay has nothing to do with the RFE. Maybe it was our change of address?

Immigration did a number on us in Juarez, Mexico, during the K1 process and, then again, at the Point of Entry in Tijuana. In Juarez, the computers shut down and, instead of announcing this immediately, they waited 7 hours to inform my wife, who had, by that time, turned blue from the wind slapping the chunks of ice growing on her face. I was across the street that whole time, unknowingly wasting time with hundreds of other icebergs that had once been real-life people. Then we got the pleasures of missing our flight and standing in line for about 12 hours the next day. Then, in Tijuana, because the Border Patrol guy didn't know he had to push the F2 button, we had to wait 5 extra hours to get on with our lives.

Oh, and then yesterday, another Border Patrol guy at a checkpoint well inside the U.S. gave us a bunch of lip because my wife's K1 Visa had expired. He tried to tell us she's not allowed to go more than 40 miles from the border. And he said we shouldn't try to cross the border until we do something about the expired Visa. (Obviously he doesn't know people with K1 Visas live in the U.S. and don't cross borders.) After I tried to explain to him what a K1 Visa is for, he wanted to know where our K1 Visa was. He had no idea what he was looking at.

But, here's the best part. He said the only reason he was letting us pass was because he was busy. Is this what the Border Patrol tells real illegal immigrants? You can pass because we're busy? What???? Maybe, if Immigration spent time teaching their employees the rules and which buttons they needed to push, those employees would have time to do what we pay them to do. Instead of protecting the U.S. from honest immigrants who would like to work for a living and to visit their families, they could cut down on illegal immigration.

So I guess this delay shouldn't surprise me. I'm sure the guy in charge of our AOS petition has spent the past 2 weeks searching for the enter button on his keyboard.

Thanks for the information. Sorry for the whining. But the whining has brought me good luck in the past.

Sorry to hear your mishap in the Mexico border.. Good thing you were still able to get in (even though they gave you lip on something that shouldnt have been questioned in the first place). Yeah I agree with you, the border patrols need some education on 101 immigration for certain types of visas that are prominent when entering the US.. even those with expired visas but have AP to let them in the US...

I just got a notice from USCIS by email that 9/6/08 they sent us a notice for a request for additional evidence. I have no idea what in the world they needed we sent copies of absolutely everything and double checked it ten times. I think we even sent more than what they needed.
