AP No touches since we submitted it.

(we submitted the AP after the AOS/EAD. Only have the NOA1 and our case # cannot be found on USCIS' Website)

EAD Card production ordered on 8/18

Rin and the children received their EAD cards in the mail yesterday. They were issued on 8/19; the form they were affixed to was dated 8/23.

We never received an e-mail notification. Not suprising as today I checked the case status online and it still had all four EAD's shown as last action on 7/16 (biometrics) and the application still pending. Guess they aren't real great at getting everything on the website updated.

Nothing good has happened for us. We did get an RFE in July, which we replied to quickly. We also received an acknowledgement of our change of address early this month. So I'm guessing those are the reasons our case is delaying. My wife really needs that EAD and AP like last month.

I still haven't figured out what this AOS process is all about. Why in the world would they permit her to come here, but not allow her to leave the country or work? How does that help the U.S. at all? They just feel like making people suffer a bit more than is necessary?

USCIS is trying to make sure your "fiance"/ spouse is here permanently, thats why you filed for an AOS or adjustment of status to the US... Know what you are geting yourself if you want to complain. If people go back and forth without proper visas, entry permits, then anyone would find ways to "fake" a document. Everything has to be documented properly as visas are limited or the US would be just as populated as China... and have more "terrorist" wandering around the US... Yes its lots of red tape, but Ill take that red tape if it means to be more "safe" in the US.

I'm not sure I agree with your theory, or see if it applies to the EAD. People with work visas are able to start right away, so why not K visas? They have already gone through security checks and an interview and a lot of red tape to get to the AOS stage. I agree that it seems unnecessary. I'm fine with the gov't taking time to issue the actual greencard and having waiting limitations for citizenship -- there they are making sure that the immigrant does indeed have a permanent intent. But for the K, I don't see any rational reason to make the person wait on working and travelling.

Question: Does your Social Security Card say: "Not Valid for Work without DHS Authorization" if it does when you get your Green Card you can go to the Social Security and have a replacement card with that notation removed. Here is a thread I found; hope it helps: Here
