short visit to the immigration office , the lady was helpful she sent a service request and handle me the confirmation number and she said i should hear something in a week if not call customer service and give the the confirmation number

Yup, last Sept, 09 was the last update..

I did not go to the local USCIS office for infopass yet because I called USCIS last Saturday and requested expedite for my EAD, the CSR said, USCIS should reply within 5 days, so i will just wait til friday.. and if I will not hear anything, I will do the infopass on Monday, next week ..

Nothing good here. Went with my wife for an Infopass meeting on Friday to ask what's up with the EAD and AP that haven't arrived. Tried to show the lady the message from the National Benefits Center, dated July something, saying that they received our RFE information and that we should expect to hear something within 60 days. I noted to the Infopass lady that the 60 days had passed and we had heard nothing. Then she said to come back in 30 more days if we still haven't got anything.

I pointed again to the ¨60 days¨and asked her if what the National Benefits Center tells us is wrong.

She kept saying that, since we had an RFE in July, our process started all over again for the EAD and the AP.

And I kept asking if what the National Benefits Center tells us is wrong.

She eventually said that she doesn't know why they put that 60 days thing on their ¨Internet Form Letter.¨

I asked her again if what the USCIS National Benefits Center tells us is wrong.

After going in circles again and again with my question, she stated something like, if it made me feel better to think of it as wrong, then I should think of it as wrong.

So I wasted my time taking a day off work and making my students go with a substitute teacher on Friday. The Infopass meeting was worthless.

She said if we haven't heard anything in another month, then I can make another Infopass and come back to the office and ask the same question. Since I'm almost positive nothing is happening with our case, I'm sure I'll be taking another day off from work to go back on the Infopass and get some more wishy washy do-nothing answers.

This immigration process is a bad joke. It's a game of chance as to which individual is handling our case.

Later in my life, if I ever have the time, I'm going to become an official activist screaming at anyone who will listen about the mess that is the USCIS. Nobody who immigrates the right way, like my wife has, should be forced to live so much time without the right to work or to leave the country. Her grandma, who she lived with for a couple years, died during this process, and my wife couldn't attend the funeral because the AP isn't here. My wife fruitlessly mentioned that fact on Friday and it meant zilch. Neither attempts to pull at the heart of the USCIS lady, nor actual evidence from the USCIS National Benefits Center, meant squat.

At this point in the process, I hold nothing against those who do it the illegal way. If it's this hard for the wife of an American citizen to legally work and travel, then it must be impossible for immigrants who have no familial ties to this country.

Before the government even considers fixing the complicated illegal immigration problem, they first ought to fix the legal immigration mess.

I am sooo sorry to hear all about this. I agree with you about how complicated they make legal immigration. I don't foresee it ever getting better though. They like to take their sweet time. I am still waiting for my GC but thankfully I have received my EAD. I hope your wife gets hers soon. Chin up!!!

Wow gringoconmexicana...I feel for you..I know how frustrating the entire process is as I am feeling it on my own skin....

the fact that the lady wansn't given you a straight answer...makes me wonder how much she knows about the system...

there are serious gaps..that is for sure...I am just looking at people that are adjusting their status just like me and they already work because they got their ead within 60 days...and mine just got approved after 100...God knows how long it taked until they will acctually mail it out...

anyway...I wanted to tell you that I don;t believe that they will re-start the process...just resume it,,.but what I think that is happening is that they prefer to pick up and work on a brand new case rather then starting something that a different person has started...this is what I believe it's happening...I think they are choosing first the ones with the K visas because they are easy to process and then they dragg their feet with our cases that have tones and tones of evidence ....

after almost 4 months since filing..can say that I had enough with them....

When my husband files for his citizenship last year in august...they told us that it will take 3 months top for his case and then mine will be a bit longer but by April 08 we should be done .... my husband didn;t get his citizenship until JUNE!!! that was horrible waiting and now again...

But..cheer up...think that there are people in worse situations and the fact that you guys are together it's all that matters!

I feel for those who have not received AP or EAD. True that we are doing this legally and its difficult. I have both AP and EAD except no updates on AOS or touches.

Last update was on I-485 was on 7/18 (After Biometrics)

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Fingerprint fee accepted; receipt notice mailed and case pending.

I want to ask if I can call USCIS because it seems like 60-70% of the cases have not been transferred / touched.

How soon can a call be made to USCIS after the NOA1.
