Hi envy,

It depends on your airline. What's your airline?

Depends on the Airline you are taking. Why not remove some of the things that you think you will be able to get here and just have your luggages exactly as what is allowed. Then you dont have to pay for excess baggage, saves you money.

Just a thought and happy trip!

American Airlines charges $15 for the very first bag. So, yes, it depends on the airline.

It can be as much as $75 each.

Typically "rule of thumb" is a bag goes "overweight at 50 lbs (23 kg) until it reaches 70 lbs (32kg)... if over 70 lbs the it will NOT be accepted.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? :o

Remove some more, lol.

I was just like you when I was packing before. I was in excess. . I showed the contents of my luggages to my husband and he was shocked . He told me remove this and that and he promised they will be here when I arrived. So I removed some more until my luggages weighed exactly as allowed . And my husband kept his promise :)

I am sure the information you are looking for will be available in the website of the airline you will choose.

Googluck again and have safe journey.

I think I may be confused with what you are saying. Are you saying excessive baggage as in more then 2 checked bags? Or are you saying excessive baggage as in overweight; but still 2 bags. Or, are you saying both?

I boarded Japan Airlines - connecting flight American Airlines. I have only 1 luggage weighing 30 pounds! and the person in NAIA told me i have excess baggage. He told me to transfer some stuff into another bag because AA only allows 23 lbs x 2 luggages. So i transfered some stuff in my carry on luggage and checked it in. 2 bags 23 lbs each. (that was last April 2008. I guess AA has new luggage policy)

Visit your airline website for more info.

ROLL YOUR CLOTHES TIGHTLY AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE SPACE IN YOUR LUGGAGE.

Happy trip!
