I have three quick questions. Any or all answers would be great :)

1. We filed our AOS application in March. We are young and my parents have a huge house and we have plenty of our own space. From reading these forums I can see that for the interview, proof of living together is a huge deal. Since we are staying here for sure if we were to sign a formal lease with my dad will they accept that?

2. How much time before the interview do they send your appointment letter? We had less than a month between filing and biometrics and I was lucky I had the day they gave me off.

3. Can anyone with some insight into the process tell me approximately when we should have the interview if we filed the AOS application March 20th, 2008.

Thanks so much!

You can have a notarized statement from your parents saying how long you both have lived there with them, and how much you are contributing for rent (if anything). A formal lease is not necessary in my opinion.

I think appointment letters are generally sent out 3-4 weeks before the interview. Ours was sent about 3 weeks beforehand. Maybe others can add their experience about this.

As for interview dates, it varies widely. Before the fee increase last year, interviews were generally scheduled 3-4 months after the NOA1 for the AOS application. Nowadays I don't know how it is, but I think it is later. Then there is the possibility of being transfered to CSC, about 1/4 to 1/3 of people are transferred and get approved without an interview. There also approval dates vary widely; often people are approved within a few weeks of getting transferred, but it could take several months.

My husband and I live with my parents and my dad typed up a lease agreement and we signed it, my husband and I and both my parents. I hope this is ok, we sent it in with our AOS though.... Our interview is July 22nd, should we still get a notarized statement or is the lease we did when we started living there ok? It's not notarized. But both my parents did affidavits that got notarized and in them i think they put that we live with them

Jesus holds the key to YOUR future! So why not put ALL your trust and faith in HIM?

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident. (Psalm 27: 1, 3)

Jillian you are giving me some hope :) I know your question was about the apartment lease and stuff but your timeline is EXACTLY the same as mine, only I am still waiting (impatiently) for the EAD. My received date for the AOS application was March 20th and the biometrics appointment was also April 15th but in Philadelphia.

I hope it comes soon!!

I didn't submit any lease/rental proof for my wife's adjustment (or removal of conditions) - because the house is paid for and is in my name only - we had other proof of joint bank accounts, credit cards, utility bills, health insurance etc. and it was enough. Good Luck
