VANCOUVER is MUCH faster at handing out k1 visas!! She is on drugs!! I'm sure others will chirp in as well, and isn't someone on VJ keeping a k1 table, which would show the difference!!!

My lawyer cost us over $2500 (plus filings) wish i had found VJ earlier! The funny thing was that she contacted us later to see if she wanted us to have her file the I-751. She would do it for a mere $1000.00 Took me all of 5 minutes to fill out the form, and maybe another 30 minutes in gathering up the evidence, lol

But ur lawyer is on drugs!!

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pjs...HOCavn_ONGctqIg here is the table Liz is keeping for Montreal! Not as much info on vancouver, as more people end up in Mtl.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ok, I just wanted to make sure... I do believe that our petition will automatically be sent to Vancouver (even though I wrote Montreal) because my fiancé lives in B.C. I think I will be just fine, but I wish I hadn't hired a lawyer!

People who have recently sent their Packet 3 back to Van are getting their interview in as little as a couple weeks. Like I said before, Montreal is getting a lot better, but it seems like Vancouver is processing and scheduling as quickly as they show up in the mail. Which is very good for you

I'm a K-1 visa lady that lived in Saskatchewan and my interview was in Vancouver, as it is for any K-1'ers west and including Manitoba. There is no if's and's or but's about it. No, there is no Nebraska anymore..but that's irrelevant. Your fiance will still have his interview in Vancouver if he's a K-1 or K-3, because he lives in BC. PERIOD.

It doesn't matter what's on the application I don't think....they'll automatically send it to Vancouver...but if they don't, try and head it off at the pass so to speak, and get NVC to send it to Vancouver. While Montreal has picked up the ball and scheduling interviews much faster than say 4 or 5 months ago, you're still only looking at about a month or 6 week wait for one in Vancouver after you fax back your package 3 checklist.

Just to clarify...you are a K-1 aren't you?

Yes, my fiancé is a K-1. I called the USCIS, and they advised me to contact the National Visa Center at 603-334-0700 after we get an approval from California, so that we can ensure that it goes to Vancouver.

I am definitely happy to know that my visa will go to Vancouver.

I believe that she knows a lot about US immigration... before I hired her, I asked for the emails of her previous clients, and I got nothing but awesome reviews of her. If I were to do this over, I wouldnt have hired an attorney, but there is not much we can do now... I just hope she doesn't slow us down...

Can I call the CSC and ask them?

Don't worry about trying to get CSC to change it. They will automatically send it to the correct embassy for your fiance's addres, regardless of what you put on your petition. :)

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.

Another email from my atty after I asked her what it would take to change our petition to Vancouver:

"If you attempt to change the embassy, you could delay your case by many months. As I already stated, the Vancouver consulate is 6 months behind the embassy in Montreal. So, you will be looking at waiting at least another year if you change embassies."

I really hope that she does not know what she is talking about... I think she is trying to scare me.

She should be scarin gyou, as she is clueless. And i found that 1 remakrd from her in her last email to you sort of rude (I do, however, appreciate your confidence in my ability. I am sure that it is easy to forget that I process over 1700 K visas per year - for a living.)

Be thankful ur only paying her $500 AND you can gain more knowledge on VJ to ensure she is doing things correctly

the lawyer that we paid entirely too much money for was really clueless..

I constantly had to email him with mistakes he made.. he got us a couple of RFE's and the fool even half filled out the ds-230 but I had to completely redo it because he made a tonne of mistakes..

I really wish we would have found VJ sooner... would have saved my hubby a lot of money and we would have probably had our visa a lot sooner..

your lawyer is clueless... lol

Indeed. A ten minute search of the timelines here would prove that what she has been saying to you in these emails is utter #######, on a number of different points. And there is "no attempting to change" anything, NVC will automatically ship it to the right consulate! And if by some small chance they do mess it up, all it takes is a phone call or an email to Montreal and they will immediately recognize that it goes to Vancouver and immediately ship it there! How the heck does she not know this???

And I am with flames, that last email was all attitude with a capital A. I personally wouldn't stand for that.

I find it hard to believe she does 1700 K visas a year. at $500 a pop, she would be one rich lady, lol

As others have said, your lawyer is clueless. Your K-1 will go to Vancouver if you live in Western Canada, and Montreal if you live in Eastern Canada, period. Even if Montreal was faster (which it isn't!), you couldn't go through there anyway, since you live in BC.

All you can do for the moment is wait, the NVC will probably send your application to Vancouver anyway, based on your address. And even if they messed up and send it to Montreal, you can have it transfered to Vancouver at that point. For now just sit tight!
