I feel your pain, Rahma. Wadi still doesn't have his EAD and it's been driving him crazy to not be able to work.

Thanks everyone. He's signed up for accounting temp agencies and is now willing to do manual labor until he has enough work experience to get a job in the finanial field, if even an office job. He's sent out resumes to tons of places, mainly lower level accounting/assistant type stuff. I've even convinced him to write cover letters. He's also gone to the local worker assistance office, who weren't very helpful. He already filled out their stuff online, and thought the office would offer him more, but they just wanted to show him their website *rolls eyes*

The sad thing is that I know how hard he is willing to work, if someone will give him a chance. His last job was a receptionist/accountant at a hospital in Egypt, and he regularly worked 16-18 hours a day/7 days a week, with one week off per month. While he volunteered before his EAD, the office workers would give him all of their work, while they sat and played computer games all day. He would stay until 7 or 8 at night to finish the volunteer work. Arggggggggggg someone give him a chance!

That first job in the U.S. is usually the toughest one to get... hang in there.

Hopefully we'll be in the same boat by next week Rahma. Abdel has had several Hispanic friends from class tell him about work opportinities, so I'm hoping he can find something that way.

Does he go to ESL classes? I know that Abdel has met so many new immigrants that way and he is learning not just English from them. They are teaching him about getting work, his driver's license, how to cope here and all kinds of great stuff.
