Hi.

I am an AOS candidate, and still waiting for the green card. I have an Employment Authorization Card, but this expires in November this year. I really do not want to have a time when I am unable to work, so i am trying to be prepared ahead of time.

My questions are:

Is it easy to renew my EAD?

How long might it take?

When can I apply to renew (does it have to expire before I can file)?

Is there a new cost?

thanks everyone.

Tim (UK) Witney (USA).

November 26th 2004- Sent NOA1 to TSC.

Yes its easy to renew.... same form you used first time round

Take about the same time as it does for your first one..

You can apply 90 days before the other one expires..

Costs the same as it did for your first one (allowing for any increase)

Hope this helps

Question... surely you don't need biometrics again for a renewal EAD?

I really really don't feel like paying $175 for a renewal card simply because my DO is backlogged, and also have to lose a day's vacation, too!!!!

Argh.

.... that is a good point. Do we have to do the biometrics AGAIn for a renewed EAD? That would be wholly silly. And costly.

That's BS. I wonder if they're open Saturdays. I would really hate to use one of my precious vacation days for stupid fingerprints. Not to mention the ASC is 3 hours from my work.

timmyjfish,

As easy, quick, and expensive as it was to get in the first place. Same process all over again.

See that photo and fingerprint on the EAD you've got now? You've got the card, they can't take it apart and re-use them for a new card.

Do we have to do the biometrics AGAIn for a renewed EAD? That would be wholly silly. And costly.

You are all kidding right? you seriously have to do the fingerprinting all over again? If it's anything like i've just experienced I didn't get my card that long ago here and it's only good till the end of october so it's not even good for 6 months yet its spose to last a year. That is BS.... and it's getting expensive.
