Many thanks to all for all the comments and suggestions. I know this is not a unique situation since we have friends that did exactly the same thing for the same reasons. I'll have another go at organizing and gathering evidence.

Again, many thanks and I'll re-post when I have it organized.

Your G-325A count seems off:

a/ you need Form G-325A for Petitioner and Form G-325A for Alien, attached to I-130

b/ you need Form G-325A for Alien, attached to I-485

for a total of 3 forms, each 4 pages long.

Complete the line "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" as follows:

- Petitioner's G-325A (attached to I-130), check "Other" and write "I-130 petition"

- Alien's G-325A (attached to I-130), check "Other" and write "I-130 petition"

- Alien's G-325A (attached to I-485), check "Status as Permanent Resident"

That's not right. No G-325A form is needed for the I-485 application. Just 2 are needed, one from the petitioner and one from the beneficiary.

A G-325A form is needed for the I-485 application, according to Form I-485 instructions, Page 4, Item 13 (see http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf).

Also see http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD, 3rd bullet point.

Each application needs to stand on its own, therefore both I-485 and I-130 have to have their own - separate - set of evidence, including their own G-325A, even if duplicated.
