for those of you who have gone through the K1 process and been interviewed in montreal, what sort of things did they ask to see as proof of your relationship? photographs should be easy for us, but do they need to see phone records from both the USC and beneficiary? emails? anything else? or is it based more on the questions asked and whether or not you can answer them?

we're having some issues getting our phone records together on both sides (i have mine, david kinda sorta has something but has 3 phone numbers and it's getting messy...). i'd prefer not to make a big deal out of it if it's not worth the stress and they really aren't required from both sides.

thanks!

happy memorial day weekend for those of you who are celebrating it! for those of us who are not, hope you're somewhere sunny and warm. it's beautiful in toronto today :)

I took a pile of stuff, organized into packets:

evidence of engagement : ring receipts, congratulations cards and emails from family and friends, pictures from that day, etc

evidence of trips to see each other: 4 trips in total. I had pictures, itineraries, emails r/t trips, boarding passes, etc. I also had added stuff from when Jerry and his parents came up for our wedding shower as a surprise, like pictures of all of us (both sets of parents and us) together.

evidence of ongoing relationship: a sample of emails, letters, phone call printouts, etc

I never had to show any of it, but it's nice to have on hand in case. I did get questioned about whether or not we had met each other's parents, and I was going to pull out the pictures to prove it, but I didn't have to. Even though I didn't have to show my evidence, it was nice to go through and organize it all the night before and remind myself of why I was doing this. :)

One guy that had his interview the same days as I told me how the officer asked him about the relationship he had with his fiance's young son -- had he met the child, etc etc. He whipped out pictures of them together at an amusement park, hanging out, etc., which satisfied the officer and he got the visa.

I don't know if this will help you or not regarding phone records. Instead of trying to get all our records (I have three numbers as well, home, cell and work but my fiance only has 1 his cell phone), he ordered his cell phone records and then I just showed proof that the numbers he was calling and receiving (because his company does that) were mine. So for my work number I just included a business card, for my cell and home phone I included a bill which showed my name and number!. I hope this helps.

We're having a bit of a horrible time with phone records as well. My fiancee used to use the comcast phone, since it had unlimited long distance to canada; but she cancelled the service and of course they deleted the records, and we are waiting to see if we can still get the records if we reactivate the service... otherwise they said they would need a court order subopena :/ The times I call her, I always use a phone card so that's not going to help.

we have a bunch of stuff of other stuff though, regarding the wedding, photos together, website printouts, some chat logs. a handful of letters from friends and family... i hope that will be enough.

Always good to bring evidence to the interview, but most likely they wont even ask to see it, so don't loose any sleep over phone records! Pictures, travel receipts should more than suffice for Mtl

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We just brought photos and our weddding invitation.

Our photos had the date stamp on it from the camera so we had pictures of us going way back...we didn't bring phone records either. I did bring letters and cards we had sent one another as well.

When we went in for the interview I asked if they wanted our proof and the guy said that it wasn't necessary.

We're just providing my phone bills because I pretty much always call him because I have unlimited long distance on my cell phone. I don't anticipate there being any issues since we talk everyday for like 1-3 hours and I call the same number everyday and my phone bill shows I'm calling New York.

In our case, we've been dating for almost 5 years and gone back and forth for visits every 3-5 weeks, and I didn't keep all of our boading passes, I have a very random selection of them, haha... so hopefully that should be okay. I'm really not worried.

Oh another good one is vacation stuff. We've been on 3 cruises together and we're showing the receipts with both of our names on it, our cruise boarding pass and photos.
