The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I guess today is my first day :D

I mean, yesterday was really, but it was a public holiday, and we went out with Dave's parents, and did a whole lot of shopping and so on, so it was a bit like a bonus holiday... Dave's back at work today, and I'm home alone, and very happy :D

I've done loads of cleaning (Dave said he cleaned, bless him, but I guess there were things he didn't get to before leaving for Aus ;) ), including the stove, and a huge amount of ironing, and I've been going out and moving the sprinkler round the yard, and stopping periodically to marvel at all the wildlife in the garden (squirrels, and sparrows, and doves, and some birds I don't recognise, and a toad, and a rat :D ), and pinching myself when I see something classic, like all the American flags in people's front gardens, or a yellow school bus dropping kids off :D

I'm having a lovely day... and many more to follow, I hope :)

don't feel lonely in the slightest... but then, I rarely do :)

And I imagine all the birds and squirrels of the forest reponded to your song and joined you in doing the chores!!!

Yes. Sorry... can we have your previous post deleted please? It offends me most deeply.

I took had to go to work the next day as I had to work my full time and part time job. I left Andre to fend for himself....getting used the house and neighborhood. I took the weekend off to show him around town. Then, back to working both jobs.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I arrived on the Friday evening of a holiday weekend so we were lucky enough to get 3 days together before Scott had to go back to work. I was pretty fed up and bored here until I got a car (3 weeks after I arrived), things were much better after that. :)

Didn't you get scared driving around? I am a nervous driver at the best of times so am quite anxious about the driving - we will only have one car as well because we can't afford two yet >< All in good time I guess :)

I find driving over here much easier than in the UK. There seems to be much less traffic on the roads and there's always somewhere to park! :D

Hmmmm....

You know, life does have to get back to normal.

We spend all this time apart and separated. Some people spend a lot of time doing the big wedding planning; some are focusing on getting kids over here too; all of us spend time missing our partners and being lonely.

But life has to 're-begin'. After the 'visajourney' there is - well - normalcy.

I think that's just it rj - you spend so long going through the process that you kinda want someone to catch you on the other side. I was out there for a few months while Jeremy worked and it was fine but I dunno - I feel that maybe when it is a longer-term prospect it might be different? Or maybe I am being overly paranoid :) I think I am just trying to figure out what other people did and how they coped - as many people are wont to point out - this isn't just a holiday where you spend two weeks together and go sightseeing - this is life where things have to get back to normality again :)

the normalcy has been what we've been pining for all this time

we've walked the streets of Ottowa, Montreal, London, Paris, Lille, Prague and Sydney together, but what we REALLY wanted was loads of washing and grocery shopping ;)

I think you're over-thinking it, Jeraly - and that's not a criticism; I think we probably all do, to a degree; I know I did, at least - but I think you'll cope beautifully, and be very happy :)

humans are amazingly resilient... you'll just see a new situation, and adapt to it; I can't imagine you having any trouble :)

*hug*

And I imagine all the birds and squirrels of the forest reponded to your song and joined you in doing the chores!!!

henc

yes, it was just like Enchanted :D

I made a dress from the curtains straight after ;)

We arrived together on a Friday, and spent a quiet weekend with unpacking, grocery shopping etc. before hubster had to go back to work. I managed to talk him into letting me drop him off on Monday so I could take the car to go exploring - only the first of many times I got lost in Minneapolis!

I had been to his house and the small town he lived in many times before, so that wasn't new to me.

And I can relate, StillThePrettiest, I too was amazed at the deer in the front yard, the racoons and turkeys and the black bear that destroyed the bird feeder on my third night here....
