Absolutely, now she's trying to "wack" the competition.

Yeah, cuz (obviously) no one hates the idea of a black president.

Nice way to take it from a gaffe into she wants to whack him. That Koolaid must be some good stuff!

Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.

...

"We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/05232008/news/...y_wa_112232.htm

What ,is she planning to have him "whacked" ?

She planning to get him whacked? Nah, it's the other way round.

The KoolAid brigade is whipping this thing up into a frenzy to reenact the Salam Witch Trials.

Hillary Clinton was a young woman when RFK was assassinated. Like me, I'm sure she can remember when and where she was when she heard the news. She can probably still see the news reels playing in her head, Kennedy lying on the floor with the back of his head blown off lying in his own blood. How in the name of all that is holy she can make such a disgusting, crude and crass comment is beyond my realm of understanding.

For you to refer to this as a 'witch trial' is ...... well just sick on your part.

Ahhh, rebeccajo, I am impressed.

Coming from you, I was expecting a "You suck. Shut up." kinda comment.

Now, I see you have graduated to no.38 from Schopenhauer's "The Art of Controversy"

Become personal, insulting and rude as soon as you perceive that your opponent has the upper hand.

In becoming personal you leave the subject altogether, and turn your attack on the person by remarks of an offensive and spiteful character.

This is a very popular technique, because it takes so little skill to put it into effect.:yes::yes:

What did she actually say? She said:

Responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race, she said: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don't understand it," she said, dismissing the idea of abandoning the race.

She has said much the same thing before. In a March interview with Time magazine, she said: "Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June, also in California. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual."

Of course she was so suggesting that Barack is likely to be assasinated and oh my goodness, could she actually hire someone to do the dirty deed? I mean, she is after all this evil, coniving, repulsive, amoral woman, right?

Honestly, if this is the quality of discussion over presidential candidates I have to say it's pathetic and we deserve a crappy president because of it.

Maybe when she references this as one of the reasons to remain in the race it sounds rather bad. She apologized for the remark. Seems that Hillary - unlike some of her supporters - recognizes this was a bad reference in the context it was made.

She apologized for the offence that it was percieved to have caused but the remark was never meant to suggest that there would be an assasination attempt. Perhaps it was an odd reference to use, I don't know because honestly it doesn't offend me in any way simply because I never took it as wishful thinking on her part. Regardless, her saying it doesn't make her evil or stupid or any of the other things that have been suggested.

It's the standard Clinton way of doing things. Make a comment that plants an idea in peoples heads and then say "Opps! I didn't mean it that way". The idea is still put out there.

She cites RFK's assassination as a reason why she should remain in the race. I'm not sure how this could be taken any way other than her suggesting that there is a chance that her opponent - whom she has no real chance of defeating anymore - may not be around to accept the nomination that he has all but won fair and square. What else would this mean? Why would she cite this particular event as a reason to continue her lost battle?

The reason she made the comment was simply to illustrate that no one can predict the future, at least that is the way I took it. A wise illustration? Well, obviously with the ultra sensitivity that is being shown here, clearly not. Still, how anyone can even suggest that is was some wishful thinking, 'oh, you never know Barack could get assasinated' [Nudge, nudge, wink wink] is just ludicrous. Hillary is a US Senator for goodness sake, not some Jane Nutjob from Hicksville.

Of course no one can't predict the future. That's so obvious that it surely doesn't need to be illustrated in any way, shape or form. Her apparent denial of the fact that the math is irreparably stacked against her is really getting quite embarrassing and raises the question whether her act as of late is worthy of a US Senator.

People are always illustrating their points when talking, it's perfectly normal. Imagine any speach without these illustrations. Dry, dry, dry.

I know that there is this relentless desire to nitpick every comment any of the presidential nominees makes to expose some horror but I don't understand it. I'm waiting for policy to recieve the same fine tooth comb scrutiny, now that would be interesting.
