Even if you have a co-sponsor, your wife has to submit her tax information. If she did not file taxes then she has to show proof that it was not required.

Also, you need to gather every item they have requested. Simply follow the directions to the letter.

Also, you can go to the uscis website and look up the requirements for the sponsor taking into account all of the family situations.

Hi Laurarajesh me and my wife are in the same boat as you guys. I know it hard and confusing but definetly get all paper work together. It seems that the embassy has deemed your case needs more finical backing even if it is above the poverty line "shaking my head" there seems to be a no steady system on how they look at pettions. I am sorry for any inconvinces you both are going thru. My suggestion like the others posted here is just to do what they ask even if it does'nt quite make sense. My prayers are with you :)

First of all, I am confused by your post....

Are you saying you have a Co-sponsor and they submitted their Federal Tax Returns?

The numbers you write down:

did not understand why he told me that co sponser tax paid

2005 tax is 14100usd

2006 tax is 13900usd

2007 tax is 17044usd

Does this mean how much money each year (GROSS INCOME) the co sponsor made?

or

Does this mean how much tax money (TAX MONEY) was paid?

It is very confusing how you present your request for help...

What is required:

The primary sponsor needs to earn 125% above the poverty guideline to sponsor you. Here is a link to the guidelines for 2008:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1327.html

This is how household size is calculated:

Sponsor = 1

You = 1

Both of you = 2 (gross income needed is $17,500.00 - 48 states) For Alaska and Hawaii residents it is higher.

If the sponsor has listed dependents (children) on their tax return, then the gross income requirement increases. See chart at the link provided.

The JOINT SPONSOR/CO-SPONSOR is required to follow the same rule (Sponsor 1, You 2, and any dependents they have). But it seems like your joint sponsor has enough money if you look at the chart.

They need to provide a complete tax return with all supporting documents (1099's and w-2s). Joint sponsor must be US citizen.

Hi Rajesh,

Sorry I too am little confused.

After reading some of your post's. I believe the first consular asked you to get a cosponsor (wich is someone else that would take financial responsibility for you when you come to the U.S.)

The reason they ask for this is if they feel and I guess it is the option of the counselor and not a hard fast rule. Meaning if the consular that reviews your case believes you are barely (just/very close) to above the poverty line and in there eyes may become a person or family that will have to get Financial assistance from the Government if you were to Immigrate to the U.S. then they want to make sure someone else is willing to take financial responsibility for you instead of the Government having to do so. I hope that clears up you Question:)

Also, I believe you were asked to submit a list of things to prove your relationship validty

VFS REQURIED DOCMENTS

=====================

1) Additional prroof of relationship, includind but not limited to:itemzed phone bills, Emails, Postmarked letters or card.

2) list of 20 marriage ceremony guests, their relationship to you, their adresses and phone numbers. please do not include immediate relatives.

3) list of vendors and contact information from your marriage ceremony. Also submit catering bills anb bill from hall, ect

4) Photographs of you and the petitionar before , during and after marriage

5) Notarized passport copies showing petitioner's travel to india.

6) Family trees from the beneficiary and petitioner back to there paternal and maternal grandparents. pls incluse all aunts, uncles. and cousins and their contact details.

7) petitioner tax papers.[/b]

If I were you I whould submit or take with you to your second interview All documents requested by the Embassy counsular in the manner that they told you to sumbit them i.e Thru the VFS, FAX, or directly mialing or bringing them to the Couslar office.

Best of luck

Is the Co-sponsor a US citizen?

Does her income come from working? Or did she received government money (Means tested money)?

They denied my Joint sponsor (my mom) because half of my mother's income is from a social security pension
