well for a conservative he sure has turned his back to the dark side. maybe the democrats he votes for will let us get hit by terrorists again and then send them a box of chocolates saying that we are sorry for all the trouble we have caused you terrorist. don't worry about us you are more than welcome to attack the US when ever you want.

hey, i thought 9/11 happened when a republican was in power.

Yeah, 9 months after he took office. All the planning for 9/11 was done on Clintons watch. Hell, Clinton was offered OBL on a silver platter and he let him go. But who cares about such minor details?

so bush had nine months to do something and... he didn't.

And Clinton had 8 years to do something and didn't. So what is your point?

that the argument that if a democrat is in the white house it will mean a terrorist attack falls flat. by your logic, if a terrorist attacks during the next president's term, bush had 8 years to do something and didn't.

I don't like or agree with any of the logic of blaming the prior presidents or current presidents for terrorist attacks. One flaw in these kinds of arguments is that if a Democrat is put into office in the next election, and there happened to be a terrorist attack during that term, then the blame could be put on the prior President, that being Bush, or the current President, because they are a Democrat.

One who studies terrorist would know that terrorist strikes are not predictable. Terrorist attacks come because the terrorist are weak and spread out. They have stratigic attacks to weaken their opponet over a period of time, and tactical attacks to achieve short term goals. Terrorist groups look to do the "spectacular attacks", such as 9/11, as a way to legitimize their group. They still haven't identifed who becomes a terrorist and who doesn't. It can take all shapes and forms. Some terrorist have no other goal but to instill fear in the population. It is said kill 1 and frighten 10,000. Other terrorist have the goal of glorification, while others are simply suicidal with no point. There is still much to be learned.

I love the comments from the Obamabots. Posting stuff like this puts you all in instant defensive mode and it's fun to watch you run around defending him. It's like kicking an ant hill. The next few months are going to be fun.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I have challenged you to find an article that writes glowing reviews about Sen. McCain... I'll be standing by...

^_^ I can't help myself!

The Onion: McCain Declines Secret Service

John McCain claims that if elected he would save taxpayers millions by eliminating the Secret Service and defending himself instead. More coverage at:http://onion.com

McCain is the balls.

YEa wow... a campaign run on fear sounds so familiar. I hate to say it but a terrorist attack can and probably will happen regardless of who is in power. Better to spend time working towards finding a solution than to haggle over which single person can stop an attack. Voting for McCain just because he "Might" have the balls to stop an attack - nah I don't think so. Bush's agenda now isn't working so I doubt McCain's would have much more of an effect.

p.s. just because someone was a good soldier in no way makes them the best candidate for president.

Fear is he only argument they have. This time, however, America will not fall victim to fear again.

Really? Ya think? So tell me why the polls show McCain even or besting Obama?

Gallup Tracking...............05/20 - 05/24.........4423 RV........45........47.........McCain +2.0

Rasmussen Tracking.......05/21 - 05/24.........1600 LV........44........46.........McCain +2.0

I know, you will say it's early and the polls don't mean anything. That is the usual response from someone that doesn't like the poll. But look at it this way, In you mind Obama can't be beat and with the problems that come from Bush McCain can't win. If that is so why are there more Americans right now that want McCain over Obama? By your logic he should be ahead by a landslide. I'll tell you why, Because Obama isn't seen as the savior of the country like you see him.

My issue with electing John McCain is solely based on the problem that during the next presidential term there will be a need to put more justice's on the Supreme Court. I don't think this country can afford to let the Republican party further tip the scales of justice in that body any further than they already have. Gary may be a rabid Republican, and I can forgive him that. But I am not sure he would want to live in the world they would create if they magically assumed total control of the White House, the Congress and the Supreme Court for the next few decades.

If, and it appears when, the Democrats choose Obama I will reluctantly go along with the party because we really need to get some balance back to the Supreme Court.

Gary,

Try to read the trend - and keep in mind that the Dems have yet to unite behind their candidate. You hope that they won't but I am quite certain that they will.

What a difference 10 days can make... ;)

Now your hanging on the polls. My question still stands though. If, like you say, America will not be fooled again then why is it so close? I was making a point and not calling the result. Perhaps it's because that Obama isn't fooling the people with his false hope? I guess he needs to pass out some more koolaid.

That is exactly the reason I am supporting McCain. The SC will have 2 or 3 vacancies this next term. I want them to be judges that really follow the constitution and not make law from the bench. We need 2 or 3 more Alito's or Robert's on the SC.
