  1. 1. Do you agree with Barack Obama when he states that Arabic Translators are being wasted in Iraq and should have been deployed in Afghanistan where they are really needed?

    • Yes, Arabic translators are badly needed in Afghanistan!

    • No, they are needed in Iraq

Donny...don't tell me you're another of Limbaugh's ditto heads who doesn't bother to check his sources before accepting what that bloated fat ####### says?

You probably missed these facts.

The ABCNews.com Political Radar blog said of Obama's statement in a May 13 post that "Obama posited -- incorrectly -- that Arabic translators deployed in Iraq are needed in Afghanistan -- forgetting, momentarily, that Afghans don't speak Arabic." In responding to the post, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton reportedly said that "[t]his poorly researched and written piece is inaccurate in that it just completely ignores the need for Arabic translators in Afghanistan" and noted the presence of foreign fighters in Afghanistan, including those from "various Arab countries," as The New York Times reported in October 2007. In addition, during a report on the January 18, 2002, edition of PBS' NewsHour, correspondent Spencer Michels reported that "U.S. intelligence agencies and the military have been scrambling to hire or train speakers of Middle Eastern languages like Arabic, Farsi, and Pashto, all languages spoken in Afghanistan."

Further, contrary to Limbaugh's assertion that Obama "ma[de] up a couple languages that they speak" in Afghanistan, Urdu is spoken there, and Pashtu or Pashto is one of the official languages of the country.

Moreover, when Sen. John McCain made the admittedly false claim at a March 18 press conference in Jordan that Iranian operatives are "taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back," Limbaugh downplayed the misstatement as "this little -- this gaffe." Indeed, on the March 21 edition of his show, a caller asked, "McCain was wrong? McCain was not wrong." Limbaugh responded, "It doesn't matter whether McCain's right or wrong. This is what the Democrats do. They're going to try to attack. And Obama's desperately trying to change the subject, and he's trying to make it look like he's already won the nomination. So, he's focusing on McCain, who is the presumptive Republican nominee. It's -- and he knows the drive-bys are going to carry his water. He knows the drive-bys will then go to McCain and play this little -- this gaffe up and so forth."

....

So if you're going to by gaffes on foreign affairs, McCain's got the lead. ;)

voters aren't that irrational and will vote Obama as our next President. You can count on that.

Are you sure about that?

(at about 3:15.... I'd like to know what exactly is "American" that didn't come from some other culture? The only "American" culture that is truly "American" is corruption and immorality IMHO and all other "American" culture has come here from the immigrants who have brought it here with them when they came..... anyway, that's off topic)

Personally I think it's insane to vote (or not vote) for a person based on their race and, while I'm not surprised, I am sad that racism is still this prevalent in the US.

I do, however, understand religion being an issue with voters and feel it's fair for them to consider the religion (core beliefs that a person follows in their everyday life) of a man as a factor in whether they should vote for him or not.

BTW, I do not believe Obama is muslim and would actually go so far as to say that I'd be concered that he has a deep-seated hatred of muslim men since two of them apparently abandoned him and his mom in his lifetime. Nonetheless, he supports Isreal's right to terrorize the Palestinian ppl and has stated his intention to continue funding Isreali terrorism and that is enough, on its on, to lose my vote.

Steven,

I seen it for myself on the news not anywhere else. Of course the spokesman for the Obama campaign is going to come out and try to smooth it over. The point is that Barack Obama is clueless on foreign policy and many other subjects I might add. Have you also noticed that he only sounds brilliant when reading off a teleprompter, when he speaks off the cuff he sounds like a complete idiot.

My biggest fear is that after four years of George W. Bush butchering the English language, the #1 qualification the American people are looking for in a President is a person that deliver a good speech. Even if what he says in that speech is absolute garbage.

But it took Jimmy Carter to give us Ronald Reagan, It may take a Barack Obama to give us a good conservative President. Not a John McCain.

The worst gaffe that we could commit as a people is to betray our own country. Which actually was part of the Islamic extremist overall plan from the beginning. They knew that if we tried to fight them that the left-wing in our country would side against their own country and be their biggest supporters.

They were 100% correct!

It is true #6. You are living proof!

It happened during Vietnam and it is happening now.

Living proof of... what... exactly? That you're so irrational that you equate a democratic dialog over this country's foreign policy strategy with treason and mutiny?

How ignorant.

Sure. Because Vietnam was such a f*cking great idea to begin with.

Perhaps what you should be more concerned with is rogue leaders railroading the country down a bad road with no clear way out at the end of it.

How ignorant.

Once your country commits to war it is treason not to see it though. There is only two sides in a war. People that want your side to win and people that want your side to lose. Unfortunately, you are one that wants my country to lose. That makes you subversive to the well being of my country. You come to my country to live and enjoy the blessings that are granted to you here, yet you actively work to undermine my country at the same time. Are you with us or against us? It's only Black and White. Quit trying to hide in the gray that does not exist. I feel this makes you weak and cowardly. Real men don't try to hide in a nuance.

The democratic dialog only is legitimate until the boots of our armed forces are deployed in war on foreign soil. Once this happens the only honorable position is to support your country to as speedy victory as possible.

What if half way through WW2 we decided it was too hard and gave England to Germany, would you have been ok with that? Oh, that is right your perspective does not extend back that far.

Your 30 that makes your total years are a mature thinking man about 6 years. It takes a man until he is 24 to even be fully matured. You will see the truth one of these years. It will take at least another 5 to 10 to get some real life under your belt.

But then again some never mature.

Well what can I say really...

It takes a certain kind of mentality to frame everything in terms of absolutes.

Then again totalitarian attitudes seem to be pretty common among the uneducated, the ignorant and the vicious.

I am actually a quite kind, gentle and generous person. I also hunger for knowledge on a constant daily basis. Uneducated, hardly.

I do know in life there two absolutes: Right and Wrong, Good and Evil.

After 12 years of corruption and bungling at the UN, The war in Iraq was right because we were left no other option by the diplomats.

Saddam Hussein was evil that deserved to be eliminated from this earth, again the diplomats just lined their pockets at the world's and the Iraqi people's expense.

What you can say is that you stand for right over wrong and good over evil.

Sure. And for all your knowledge seeking you trotted out a bunch of stale, stereotypical neocon rhetoric. Uneducated? Totally. If you weren't - you'd be able to frame your own ideas without recourse to that bunch of smelly old dickweed.

As for kind and generous - you have pretty much labelled me as a traitor on a premise that is entirely spurious. Not to mention totally dishonest.

First, NeoCon stands for Neo-Conservative, Which means "new conservative". I am by no means a "new" conservative. NeoCons are typically former Democrats that have come to the conservative movement because of their "hawkish" positions on the military, not being true fiscal conservative. Hence big bloated budgets.

Second, These are my own ideas that I have been cultivating in my own mind since I voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984, my first presidential election. The contrast between the 30 years of liberal and socialist economic stagnation and just a mere 4 years of application of free market principles was glaring. Jimmy Carter's weak foreign policies that strengthened dictators and oppressors of human rights and freedom around the world and Reagan's "Peace through Strength" that ended the stalemate of the cold war that people on the left could never even dream of happening. Who talked of "just getting along" with the communist system, no matter how destructive it was to the people that suffered under it and the peace of the world as a whole. I would say many on the left actually idealized the communist system and would have preferred it to our own, for the power and control it wielded over the people. Which is really the basis of the socialism, making people do things that they would not naturally do or choose for themselves. All in the guise of compassion and equality. Just ask the people of the former Soviet Union how compassionate their government was. Or how about Burma? Or Cuba? When they cry for joy just to get some food to live another day. Equal misery is the always the result. But like I said you are to young to know from direct experience, You only know what some left-wing professor indoctrinated into your brain.

Third, I only judge your character by the rhetoric that you spew on a daily basis.

You have my pity and my prayers.

You can shove your prayers and your pity in a sack, mate ;)

Whether you're a new conservative or an old one - there's really no difference in this context. nyone who seriously thinks that people talking about a very controversial foreign policy are somehow betraying or undermining their country needs their head examined. Not to mention a nice little black uniform to go with their absolutisms.

I must try to think of the left wing professor who "indoctrinated" me, that's actually pretty funny now that I really think about it. Again its the same stale old paranoic ####### tossed about by the talk radio guys. Trotting it out suggests to me that you have clearly never been inside a higher education institution, let alone studied in one.

Suffice today I didn't idolise any of my tutors at university. Not a single one.

That said - there's seems to be no shortage of indoctrinated people in the audiences of Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Billy-boy O'Reilly or Ann Coulter.
