Is there anyone who has experienced the refugee process. No matter where I look online I can't find anything on the topic to help me know what to expect for my husband. Though we put in for his visa to come as my spouse. It will take longer than processing him as a refugee and we want him to have the refugee benifits so his transition here will be easier and he will have more help.

If anyone knows anything about the process I would greatly appreciate it. My husband has already been to two of the interviews and is waiting for his final interview now if this helps you to know where we are in the process.

Thankyou for your response. I have read those links. It just doesn't give us an idea on timelines, things to expect, actual benifits, that kind of thing. One place I found a kind of timeline, but so far it hasn't matched my husband's process at all so I don't trust if for the rest of the process. I will say they are trying to move fast so far. In Jordan Iraqis have to go through 3 interview appointments. All three of my husband's appointments were within just less than two months. The few Iraqis he has met going through the process have varying timelines, but none of them are like his case. He got referred for refugee because he is my spouse, not because he worked for any US organization in Iraq. He was also not referred by UNHCR which is the case with most refugees. Instead he was referred by the US department of state through his approved immigration petition. I am not sure if the priorities will be different or the process.

I am also hoping by posting this thread it could help others that may be going through this process so they can know what to do and expect.
