I've always been the type to wear makeup and nail polish and do my hair up and stuff and that hasn't really changed since embracing Islam.... I still like all that stuff. I'm still a woman after all and I like to fix myself up for my hubby :star:

I don't wear nail polish anymore since you can't remove it easily to make wudu but I do stain my nails with henna, keep my hair colored, wear makeup and so on but I have toned down the makeup a lot. I wear kohl, eyeshadow and powder regularly unless it's hot and I'll wear lipstick around the house but I'll wipe it off if I'm going out. I wear a light shade of eyeshadow and apply a thin layer of kohl so it's not too obvious if I happen to go out. The kohl stays with you thru wudu but I have to reapply the powder. I'll also wear perfume around the house but again, not if I'm going out.

Muslim women are allowed to decorate themselves with nice clothes, makeup, perfume, henna (not permanent tattoos) and make their hair look attractive for their husbands and around other close male relatives..... we're just not allowed to show that beauty to others outside of that little circle.

I was doing well.. but now I am feeling as if I am going down the tubes fast again..... I wanna wear lipstick!! Now that my habibi has his job we only talk everyother day @ 30min. We're planning a trip for me in September insha'allah but I feel so icky. I tried retail therapy last night now I just feel bad about that too. I don't wear lipstick cause he doesn't like me to when I go to work but I feel so down... silly huh?

Also, can't seem to keep track of dates and days ... maybe I am going seanile (spelling????)

What about clear lip gloss - something very light, not noticeable...still makes you feel like a woman. My husband always says to me when I have on just mascara and light lipstick - Te Pintaste? Which means you painted yourself??? I'm like...it's nothing. Makes me feel good that he's a little jealous. hehe

Thank you for explaining that more to me Alhamdulillah . I think this is what my husband was trying to tell me, but didn't know how to get the words out correctly.

Waterproof makeup :) I actually love some of the islamic clothing styles. I bought so many tops and dresses when I was in Egypt. I must say that's the one thing I like about Egypt. You can go out shopping and not have to worry about seeing everyones crack hanging out of their pants or the breasts about to pop out of their shirts. I must say that Americans need to learn about modesty.

Do they sell waterproof under eye concealer and blush?

I tend to sweat and have extra oil under my eyes. I've been using a waterprrof undereye concealer by Mayelline that I love! For blush I use Blushsense. That stays on too! I also use an eyeliner by Lancome that stays on from the time I put it on, till I take it off. I can't even wash that off, I have to use eye makeup remover. I supposed when I put my make-up on, I want it to stay on.

So I've been told that if you are wearing socks and hijab and had made wudu before putting them on, you don't have to take them off again to make wudu and those parts are still clean.... so does the same apply to the waterproof makeup?

Anything that enhances ur beauty actually doesnt comply with the meaning of hijab -not attracting men to look at u- but i do add some concealor but i make sure not to add any colors to my face or make it attractive. On the other hand i do wear makeup at home; dress nice n im always looking my best :D

It's the inside of you that counts both to God and to your husband. (or it should be that way imho anyways). I'd rather have my soul shining from salat and making dua and giving zakat and not wear makeup or do my hair up than look perfect on the outside and empty on the inside.

Seriously it is a freeing feeling once you get over the mourning of what used to be. Hang in there. (F)

this is how i totally feel too al hamdulillah my priorities r straightened now :)

Ah well, I dont' wear makeup anyway - was just curious ;)

What I really want to know is if there is a place I can order those sleeves online.

I have some, but they are white and I wear them 5 days a week to work and they are slowly turning a greyish color and it's been almost 1 yr. I'm about to switch jobs so maby I could get another 2 white ones and some colored for when I have to wear office clothes and business suites (wearing a chef's uniform right now)

U can prolly find'em cheaper than I got mine. Mine were 5 dollars for 2 pair. There's a shop about what...10 or 15 minutes from my place and I'm all sortsa happy to have been led to it via VP. Thanks

I'm sure u can gettem online but can't remember where exactly. Mine go up to the elbows, not all the way up the arm.

Polar -I'd try soaking them in some bleach and then wash them with some baking soda - should bring the color back.

Try to find them on ebay - they have everything!

The arm sleeves Amal got were a little different than those. Hers are a polyster blend that's breathable and keeps your arms cool. Plus they don't do over the elbow so they only cover the forearm and they have lace at the wrists. I'll try to post a pic I found online but the "high-speed internet" at this hotel is anything but and it's getting on my nerves......

What I'm understanding by "waterproof makeup" is that it doesn't wash off with water but it doesn't actually block the water from getting to the skin, is that correct? I don't understand how that would affect your wudu unless it prevents the water from reaching the skin/area like nail polish does but I could be wrong. You'd still have to wash your face but shouldn't have to remove it completely. Kohl is pretty water prood and stays on thru many washings and it's not haraam for women to wear that.

Once again I'm a bit confused. So you're not supposed to look pretty as a women when you go out in public? I guess I'm reverse. I don't wear make-up at home because I don't see the need and I wear make-up in public so I don't scare the neighbors.
