One more week until the start of Ramadan.

In the past week, I was at the bookstore and local library. I am trying to find an "inspirational" book to read that is written specifically for Muslims. (ok, besides the Quran!) I find many inspirational/spiritual books under Eastern thought and Christianity, but the only thing I can find under "Islam" is either books for non-Muslims written about Islam, books that defame Islam or books written about history or the "do's/don'ts"... not what I am looking for! So...if anyone has anything, please let me know! I am currently reading some spiritual Eastern thought books... I really need to work on my "inner" self and thought Ramadan would be a great time to do it.

Thanks!

Salaam all! I am happy that it's that time of the year again. Although a little sad.....third Ramadan without Ahmed, sigh.....

I always feel like Ramdan is a new beginning for me. It reminds me of patience, humility, sacrifice, asking Allah (swt) for guidence, forgiving of sins and above all learn how to be closer to Him. This time of year reminds me that I must be aware of ALL my actions (why am I not like this ALL the time?).

One of the biggest issues I deal with on a daily basis is sadness, complaining and plain old whininess because Ahmed is not with me. I will try my best, inshaAllah NOT to be like this during Ramadan. Al7amdullilah, I have to remember that I am truly blessed with wonderful things in my life.

Sisters....inshaAllah we can all be a great support during this time. I look forward to hearing how everyone is doing during this blessed time of the year.

Sharifah----I'm here for you girl! You can always call me up when you are lonely just pm me for my phone number. My husband will be here for just a little over a week during Ramadan and the rest of the time I will be celebrating with me, myself and I. I am grateful he can have a wonderful Ramadan at home though.

Went grocery shopping- trying to buy a few "easy to cook" things for those late dinners coming up! Also tried to buy a few fun appetizer things we normally do not get... :P and of course, a couple of liters of Coke...an iftaar tradition now! Planning to make some samosas and biryani this week to freeze as well. Of course, that is just the food side....lol...

...the spiritual side is hoping to get some time to rejuvenate. Plan to get to some taraweeh prayers this year no matter how late I get home... and read Quran and learn some new surahs. I have been Muslim 12 years now and it is embarrassing how little I know. Just got comfy with what I learned in the beginning and never ventured from that. Time for some change! I found a site that has the Arabic audio, the English words and the Arbaic words written out phonetically in English.. Check it out!

Learn Quran

Let the month of spiritual healing and blessings begin!

Baj

ah. the longing....

You know how you have to make wudu before praying if you pee, poop or pass gas? What if you're incontinent? Do you just never pray?
