Even being Muslim for 5+ years, it's a test from Allah every time! Take it easy as it's your first time and don't beat yourself if you make little mistakes.

One more week until the start of Ramadan.

In the past week, I was at the bookstore and local library. I am trying to find an "inspirational" book to read that is written specifically for Muslims. (ok, besides the Quran!) I find many inspirational/spiritual books under Eastern thought and Christianity, but the only thing I can find under "Islam" is either books for non-Muslims written about Islam, books that defame Islam or books written about history or the "do's/don'ts"... not what I am looking for! So...if anyone has anything, please let me know! I am currently reading some spiritual Eastern thought books... I really need to work on my "inner" self and thought Ramadan would be a great time to do it.

Thanks!

ah. the longing....

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Salam,

I am a new Muslimah in Houston's Southeast side. Any other Muslimah's in the area??? I need help learning. Thanks!!!!!

April :star:

I am sorry, I am not in the Houston area either, but wanted to say welcome! I am also a new sister. :) I was at the local Islamic Center here one day for a big event they had with kids water play, hamburgers, etc and a wonderful sister introduced herself to me, (she could tell I was new), and she has helped me sooo much. So with that said, my suggestion is go to your local events and masjids, I am sure you can meet some wonderful people. And I am sure people here can help you also.

Welcome both of you to VJ and our thread. I am Terrie, am new to Islam since October of last year. I think Amal is in Houston somewhere, but I am not sure.

Thank you all so much! I hope you all have a great day!!!!!!

Salam,

No worries we were all new at one time... just start asking questions we're here to support one another through all of our immergrations stuff and being Muslim.. mabrook on "being new" :) I am up in washington state.
