I took his single weekend Love Notes class, not the two weekend Fiqh of Love class, but I really loved it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has a chance to attend. Thanks for the link, I will try to have a listen this evening.

Living with hubby in Egypt, at last.

About 2 and a half months until Ramadan  The sahaba would spend the 5 months following Ramadan asking Allah (swt) to accept deeds from the previous Ramadan and the next 6 preparing for the forthcoming Ramadan. If you haven't started yet, time to get moving!

One thing to do - learn the 99 names of Allah (swt)

The most beautiful names belong to God, so call on Him thereby. (7:180)

I've found a good way to memorize them is to listen to a nasheed of all 99 names. There are quite a few on youtube that have visual names along with the song, so you can read, listen, sing along and memorize :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtBO26wJt48

And one of my favorites, not necessarily good for memorzing, but so beautiful

Jazak Allah khayr Rahma

Duaa:

Our Lord! Forgive us our sins as well as those of our brethren who proceeded us in faith and let not our hearts entertain any unworthy thoughts or feelings against [any of] those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness and Most Merciful (59:10)

"If the natural world is a book, then we might say that the Holy Qur'an, rich with natural symbols, is in some sense like the world of nature transposed to a higher level. The Holy Book, because it was sent down from a Reality higher than nature, allows a kind of dialogue between nature and human language. The Qur'an, upon entering our consciousness, is like the world in the form of a book; the world of nature, illumined by the Qur'an, is like the Book in the form of a world."

-The Book Of Nature Selected and Edited by Camille Helminski

OMG...that pic of "bones" just reminded me. I saw Star Trek last night (they dragged me...I'm not a treky (sp?) fan at all. But that movie was awesome. It was full of action, some humor (if you remember the old tv characters) it was amazing how close some of the characters were to the old tv show. Plus seeing Leonard Nemoy rocked...he looks old as hell but it was awesome to see him again....:D

That sounds like a very interesting book doods.

I happened upon The Book Foundation's "The Book of Hadith" at a few Barnes and Noble. I can't say I'm 100% with what the introduction says, but it is a nice collection of ahadith for one to browse on a wide variety of issues.

the hard part is figuring out what is written by the woman who did the editing and what is written by other authors that she quotes. Other than that it's good. I just have to read the same chapter at least two times before it *clicks*, if it does click at all. Reminds me of one of the Tariq Ramadan books that I still have in my glove compartment that is only 1/2 way read. I had to take two tylenol before reading that one too!
