Sorry, wanted to add one more thing. In the hadith this:

“ And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he seizes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely give to him, and if he seeks refuge in Me, I will surely protect him. I do not hesitate from anything I shall do more than My hesitation to take the soul of the believer who dislikes death; for I dislike displeasing him” (Bukhari, 8.131: 6502. S).

is fana, complete anialation of the self in Allah (swt). It's the ultimate connection to God. Everywhere you turn, you see God. This is the goal, you reach it, and then you step back, and find a meaningful balance of being able to interact with the world while still being constantly aware of God.

Since I've sworn off internet arguing, I'll just mention that from everything I've seen, the position of the majority is that with this verse - If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, it never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost -signifies that after the coming of the Prophet Muhammad (saws), previous paths taught by previous prophets (as) would no longer be accepted.

I don't want to argue either, but I seriously don't know of any "majority" who can overrule Allah, who says in His ahadith, His revelations to the final seal of the Prophets that He has created multiple paths to Him, and that there will be "non-Muslims" who will enter jannah. He is the One who authored the Message, who sent the prohets and Messangers to deliver it, who controls all things. I can't imagine upon what authority a "majority" can say that His Word is subject to amendment unless that is His Will. I would need daleel re that perspective.

Yes I get it masha Allah I agree with you in everything but I believe that those who are not Muslim but are submissive; rightoues as described in the verse are the ones who never heard of Allah's message or knew of the Prophet Mohammed. But anyone heard of the message will be accountable for it whether accepts it or not; right?

Yes, they will be held accountable; Allah is the best and only decider of their fate. May we all be rightly guided!

I have not forgotten my promise to you about the hadith you requested before, sis. We have finally moved, but I am still on Arab time lol. Soon, insha'allah. . .

PS, re the "majority" view of 3:85: It occurs to me that such a view would render the Message static from the 14th century on, not allowing any flexibility of practice based on culture and social norms. But, in reality, this is a widely accepted part of the legal tradition, the four Sunni schools being explicit examples of the ability to interpret the texts in context of culture. I'm not saying that there is no abrogation at all, but most scholars are especially cautious about applying it to ayat, and even more so when it comes to the entirity of the Message.

I'm probably thinking too much, but I think the concept you are speaking of, Rahma, is in the context of 'ibadat as oposed to mu'amalat. That, we may agree upon, but its not the broader issue I was addressing.

Hmmmm, a topic worthy of further exploration.

question:

I used to go here http://arthafez.com/GALLERY/99NAMESOFALLAH/index.html every so often and when I would click on each name it would give me a relevant surah from the Quran. Now when I click on them I get the next one in line. :( Anyone know where I can get the surahs?

They are anti-Islam. Many of these websites emerged after 9/11.
