I was just curious as to how many MENA members are reverts to Islam. I know not everyone on this site is Muslim and some were born Muslim but what about the reverts? Just curious. :) And feel free to share your story too.

I accepted Islam on May 5, 2002.

I really had never heard of Islam til 9/11. I started reading about it and after 6 months of studying, reading, and praying I said shahada. At that time, I did not even know any other muslims. I did it by myself, for myself. alhamdulilah.

Al humdulilah , I love what you said that you did it for yourself. So many people think we who coverted (reverted) do it for the wrong reasons . I was raised Christian in a very active church going family. Being Muslim now for about 13 years I think its fair to say I choose it from my heart. Even though I divorced I choose to marry again and I knew it would be a Muslim. Because it is who I am now.

Truth of Palestine

take time to watch , give yourself time to understand. Then make your conclusions.

salams everyone, i just wanted to write a little about hijab.......i am muslim but did not always wear hijab that covered all my hair, in pakistan many of the women wear a shawl on their head but not wear hijab that covers all of it and many do not even cover their hair until call for prayer or out of respect for elder such as grandfather in the home.....i was not always comfortable with full hijab, i was after i got older

and out of high school that i stopped wearing the shawl on my head and started wearing hijab, i think it has to be what ur comfortable with and its a growing experience.

i now feel naked with out it.

as muslims its not our duty to criticize muslims that do not wear it. we need to try and understand that specially new muslims do not feel comfortable with it and that learning more about islam and living the life expected of muslims is so much more important that going directly to hijab.

anyways thats all i had to say

I may be considered a revert because although my dad is Muslim and my mom Christian, they weren't practicing and they didn't raise us with religion. I used to celebrate both holidays and then in my teens I told myself to pick one and I did and then I dedicated my whole self to it. Alhamdoliallah I was guided and that was 2002-2003

Im a pervert. Before that I was a prevert.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I've never used the term "Revert" I don't like it much. I understand why people do .... but I've always believed the same about God. So, I didn't revert back to anything, I guess I just moved forward. My faith is a journey. So it's not like I accepted Islam and that was the end. I have so much to learn and experience.
