To hide the hideousness of your nails as they grow while the henna stain is still there.

Of course you could probably put more stain on there but then would you want the same color on there constantly? And what if your nails appear two toned when you put more stain on it? Honestly, I wouldn't do it.

I didn't think it smelled that bad. Why do you need to wear gloves if your nails are colored?

Oh wow. I didn't realize the henna would last that long on the nails. I know on the skin it only lasts a week or two.

lol. that reason too. my thinking was more along the lines of the no makeup/adornment kind of thing in front of guys i'm not married/related to. but yeah, the grow out on that is probably really ugly. not worth it.

Does anyone here have the Yusuf Islam f/k/a Cat Stevens CD "A is for Allah"? If not, and if you're planning on teaching your youngsters about Islam or raising them as Muslims it's really great. I ran across my copy of it (cassette form)while going through some boxes in my basement so I thought I'd bring it up. I used to play it in the car for my boys when they were little. Cat has a very soothing voice so I also enjoyed listening to it.

Oh and speaking of Cat...has anyone seen his VH1 Behind the Music? It's from several years ago but it was brilliant.

Quick question...is it haram, or is there anything in the Koran that says it's wrong to celebrate birthdays? I mean something like having birthday parties for your children...just curious if it is a cultural thing or if it's religion-based.

Thanks for any insight you can give me!

This is a long debated issue and even the imam of our masjids was arguing about celebrating the prophets birthday. I think the main argument is that ALLAH SWT gave us 2 holidays in the Qur'an and some say every other holiday is forbidden. I honostly don't know but we celebrate birthdays in my house...

Maybe more celebrated but at least in my family they sometimes do. Today they celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday
