I don't know if I should be talking but as for myself....why is it so hard for Christians to believe in one God with many prophets throughout history...at least for a basic understanding and belief

As Christians we have to acknowledge and accept many Prophets.

Ephesians 4:11 "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the perfecting of saints."

There are Christian sects that don't subscribe to monotheism ...

Because I'm always happy to learn about faith (which I why I read this thread) and because I've never heard of this before, can you tell me which Christians these would be?

Yes, this is an interesting topic. One I've never given much thought. But Jesus did warn of false prophets to come in the future, so I would assume that means that true prophets could also be expected to come after Jesus. I think a lot of Christians believe that Jesus was the last message from God, just as Muslims believe Mohammad was the last message.

Back to my question a couple of weeks ago about innovation in Islam. Nobody was really able to answer my question, however, after some research online, I discovered one interpretation that seems to make sense to me. It said that the prohibition against innovation was against innovation in religion. This means, of course, making any changes or additions/subractions to the religion. This makes more sense than saying it means innovation as related to say, technology or the arts.

In regards to much of what I read here regarding the disagreements, "rules", practice of Islam and different scholars who interpret it, it makes my head spin

I at one point was very enthusiastic about reading the Qu'ran and learing about it now it all just seems to confuse me more.

It just seems very complicated.

The same goes with Christianity.

I just stand by my feeling and belief that everyone will take what they will from the religion they choose to be a part of. I think it is best to live your life being a good human being (and it doesnt take a scholar to know what right and wrong is) find that one greater power, whatever name you deem fit, and believe that power is great and believe that good will undoubtedly win out over evil.

The books, the Words, all the different angles from which you can look at things, just verifies MORE to me that there is not any ONE belief or GOD more credible or believable than the other. The more I read and learn about religion the more confused and uneducated I feel.

It may sound simple in many senses of the word but that is how I choose to live my life.

I don't like to get in the middle of religious debates. Ive read the Bible and I've read the Quran. I was Christian for all of my life except for the last 7 months.

I have my reasons for converting and honestly hate the thought of people fighting over which religion is right. Believe in your heart and soul in whatever you feel is right for you and let that be said. If you choose Islam, don't over consume yourself with all of the rules. Islam wasn't made over night and neither should you try and perfect yourself overnight. If you follow it you are like a little child at first learning how to find their way through life. Learn how to incorporate it into your life and live what it is teaching but don't race out there and try and perfect it over night..remember little by little, step by step. I've saw way too many people focus on the rules of this and that and be overly concerned with it and have lost their connection with Allah. They have the rules down but don't feel the praying when they pray or don't feel the religion itself. True religion is being true with Allah (God) and having a real relationship with Him.

Yes, I highly recommend that people read the books, whether it be Bible, Quran, or whatever, for themselves and make up their own minds as to what it says. Sometimes you will be surprised as to the difference from what you bring from your reading as to what somebody else has. As far as I am concerned, rules and rituals are from man, not from God. But I think the psychological basis to this is that some people (and maybe I could say most people) need rules, rituals, and certain restrictions in their lives to help them feel closer to God.

<APPLAUSE!>

Well said.

At the end of the day, what we really hope is that our faith/religion/spirituality all leads to the same conclusion, right? Aren't we all a bit niave to believe that God chose to deliver the one true message through the one true messenger in only the ME/NA region? If there is only one God (and I belive there is), and that same God is responsible for everything that's ever happened and everything that ever will happen, why would that one God make one type of worship "better" than another? Isn't it humans who choose, and throughout history have chosen, to worship God? If the "Big Three" are the true path, why did that same, responsible for everything, God give humans other faiths?

I ask these questions because this is what I believe. I believe that God gives us what He believes we need. He gave me Catholocism because that's what I need. He gave my husband Islam because that's what he needs. Because, really, God gives us everything we need, right? Why wouldn't He give us Himself the best possible way?

I honestly thought that the Henna was going to be that brown rusty stain looking color. I just do not like that at all and I wouldn't want to display it on my toenails. The colors here are cool and they actually look very glossy like regular nail polish. How can this be different than nail polish? Because it is a stain? It seems as if it looks like this in the picture it is more than a stain...not sure, please explain somebody.

KH...have you used this? Does it look dull?

whether you use henna or nail polish, either would necessitate covering up yr hands in public. i wouldn't wanna bother wearing gloves everywhere while i waited for it to fade. and the smell of henna grosses me out.
