well me and my fiance are having problems right now in the middle of breaking up.we were talking about having children in the future.

Trina - the best thing about this is you broke up ***BEFORE*** you went much farther with your fiance. I had to go through something similar with my fiance deciding not to move here to the USA. I had to get over it, and move past things.

My ex-wife and I couldn't agree on her religion (a Japanese cult) and how that would fit in with me (Christian), and our plans to adopt. Sadly, we had to divorce since the situation was completely unworkable. I am much happier, and if you had married Mohammed, and he was unhappy about you wanting your child to have "free thought", this would have resulted in you being very unhappy down the road - say in 3 to 4 years.

Don't feel bad that this did not work out. Be thankful that you both saved yourselves the pain of a future breakup. You're much better off for this - I know, I am.

My heart goes out to you and your fiance. I agree with what some of the other have written. It is better to thrash out these things now than when you are married and have the kids. If this is going to be a problem for the both of you, it is better to end it now and save yourself heartache down the road. But the it is up to you. Follow your heart, that is the best advise I can give you. I hope it works out for you. (F) (F) (F)

Life is so strange but it sure keeps you on your toes!!!

That is because the Muslim religion is a hypocrisy, open your eyes and think about it, who in their right mind would want their children brought up this way, typical Muslim - only their religion or none at all and no room for any other religions to coexist or to even have a free choice in it, actually as bad as it hurts you now - you are better off to find out now these things than later on when married and with children, best of luck to you and be strong.

hi everyone sorry to post another nonsence post.well me and my fiance are having problems right now in the middle of breaking up.we were talking about having children in the future.and the hard thing for me is i cant handle the thought of if i have a boy he can marry any religion.but if i was to have a girl that she cant marry a non muslim.well please forgive me for saying i have a hard tme to believe why that is.it sounds kinda sexist.i know alot of people must believe the same thing.all i asked of him was to let our children be free.let them choose their own religion.and marry who they love weather christian, muslim, just believers of God.its turning into a battle everytime we talk about that.so today i think we broke up and its so hard for me esp after almost 3 years.why is it muslim men dont allow free will to their children.why cant they choose what they want to be.i would love my children to grow up and do their best and be happy and free.and there is alot of good muslims and christians.but when you tell your daughter you cant marry a christian that kinda sounds like we are bad.mena i am asking for comfort and friends right now since you seen my last post and i am taking it so hard.why does religion have to be so hard.and my mom and him used to be close.now she dont even know what to say to him no more.and neither do i because i dont know how o handle.i also wanted to let my future children learn both religions.thats not so bad is it.thats a wonderful thing.also my mom did hurt his feelings and mine.she said if you bring the children up in a muslim way they will go to hell.and that hurt me,and i know it did him to.she says the only way to heaven is through jesus christ.thats what we was taught.i really didnt think any religion that believed in God would go to hell.esp the muslims how wonderful and good kind hearted people they are.so tell me friends what can i do.do i say good bye or is there another way to have a common ground.please help

religious and cultural differences will always be a challenge for relationships

i cant understand this muslim man marrying christian woman vs. muslim woman having to marry muslim or converted muslim man

but I can tell you one thing

OUR children, would be raised Muslim and he wants to take our child back to Morocco to live and learn at least for one year.

i am not a very religious person at all...i know my religion and i took from my father and my mother so i am comfortable and schooled in both lutheran and catholic

for me this whole muslim stigma is too much...why cant we just live good and believe in god, why all this fighting about what is right and wrong

just live good, keep your faith and you will forever be in god's hands

If a muslim man marries a christian women, than the children would be muslim (in ME countries) bc the kids follow the father..so then when those kids marry. if a muslim women married a christian man, the children would follow the father, making them christian, so you would have 3 generations of different religions. this is not accetable in ME countries..

so it is allowed for the man bc his kids would always be muslim...

<snip>

Why is it the kids have to automatically follow the father's religion? Are all mothers that weak?

How about teach the kids about all religions and let them decide for themselves what faith to follow when they're adults?

Because that is too logical. Makes far too much sense and actually allows freedom! Can't have that now, can we. *sarcasm*

That requires an open mind. To be truly religious is to be the opposite.

Trina,

I bet this is very hard for you, but you do have some options. Regardless to how you and your fiancee feel about marrying dfferent religion you both need to undorstand that your children have the right to choose the right person for them, and if a man/woman of different religion makes them happy it should make you both happy seeing them smile and be respected and loved by that person. Over all we all come from different places,we all have differend religions and beliefs. Take your relationship as an example. I think you should talk to your fiancee about this and resolve it now before it is too late.

I wish you all the best.
