Hi,

I have just received word that my EAD card is being ordered, and am wondering how long it will last for? Our 485 application has just had a second reuest for additional evidence (for ticking the wrong box once then the second time they didn't notice we corrected it!!) so we will probably have to renew it, as our case has probably been delayed by at least 4 months! So how long after it is issued is the usual expiration date for the EAD, and how do we go about ordering a renewal? As we filed our 485, is the renewal also free as the original was?

It's valid for 1 year.

You can file for a renewal up to 6 months prior to it expiring I believe. You just file an I-765 again with the same category and this time check renewal application. If you filed for AoS after July 31st 2007 your renewal is free.

06/13/08 - Welcome Letter arrives

06/16/08 - I-551 Card arrives
