Well, 2 1/2 weeks less than a year after I sent in my I-751 application I am finally approved for my 10 year green card! Yay! On to citizenship now - the window opens in 2 weeks. I'm still waiting for tax transcripts from the IRS so it will be a few days after the anniversary but finally, good news! I was so very discouraged about all of this last week and wrote my Senator asking for his help. They made the inquiry this Monday (I wrote them Friday), and today I get my approval. I think it helped even though we were already in the window - their inquiry got the file off of the desk where it was acting like a paper weight.

Congrats Kathryn - its been a long haul for you! :star:

There's a good chance that I could get a transfer to our sister company in NYC. Right now, the recession is not working in my favour, but I've put in the ask with my HR person and she is 100% in support of me, so that is a good feeling.

Fingers crossed the timing will work out and I can get something lined up. That would make the move so much less daunting knowing I have a job to look forward to once I get my EAD!

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

congrats!! The N400 is easy to fill it out!! Even i did it all on my own!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah!! Luckily it co-incides with Ontario's family day so my sister is coming to visit for the long weekend! I haven't seen her since I moved so I'm excited!

My good news - got married a week ago Friday, got the marriage certificate today in the mail, am officially filing the I-130 on Monday. Yahoo!!! Yippee!!! Hallelujah!!! I've been dancing around like a 6 year old girl that has to pee. Ah... finally we can get this show on the road. Now we can move on to the part you've all been through, or are all going through - the waiting. Who would think I'd be looking forward to the waiting?
