Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if anyone is living in Morocco or very frequently visits Morocco while waiting for the visa. I'm staying permanently until we get the visa, and I'm just sick of speaking Arabic all day sometimes. :bonk: I know there are other Americans here, just never knew how to find them in an organized fashion...until next time!

April you know i would live there if my husband would approve that... I have kids in the U.S. and I agree they need there mother, I can barely stand having my heart in two different places Morocco with my husband and the U.S. with my kids. I just got back but already planning another trip since it appears that our "visa journey" will take @ 9 months... maybe we can visit eachother next time since we missed my last visit. I miss morocco!!!!

Hi April,

I just left Morocco actually after living there for 19 months, unfortunately...but I know a ton of Americans in Rabat and some in Casa too, if that's where you are. I am hoping to come back to visit again in August or September though, if you are still there....let me know what city you are in.

Hey guys,

I live in Ahfir which is close to Oujda and Berkane in the northeast corner, I'm on the border of Algeria, like seriously 1 kilometer from my front door is Algeria! But the border's been closed for a long time. Hey Lizzie, why did you leave? I'm about to celebrate a year of living here. Wahrania thanks for that Moroccan American Circle, I'll definitely check it out! The positives of being here are obviously being with my husband but the negatives are not being able to eat American/Mexican/Thai/Italian food whenever I want to, NONE of the same junk food you can find in the States, no one who speaks English (my husband and I speak Arabic and French, a very strange mixture of it) and that's actually another battle I'm trying to tackle with him is teaching him English, he's been putting it off for so long, I don't know if it's true but I threatened him that the interview will be all in English (I don't see why it wouldn't be) BUT I know SOOOO many Mexican immigrants in Cali that get visas that can't speak a lick of English and I'm like how in the hell did they get a visa????? Not that I'm saying they shouldn't, just saying wow if they don't have to speak English okay but my husband DOES because he needs to start working right away and I don't think he'll get hired off his good looks  Anyways who knows about the language of the interview in Casa? Thanks.

This is me trying to get my husband to study English ----) :bonk:

It's not that glamorous for us either, my husband has his own barbershop and only has a couple customers on average, and that's a good day! But I work too so I'm never in need of anything, nor do I actually ever buy any household stuff, my husband just has a lot of debts with people when business is slow.

Your husband can do his interview in French or Arabic as far as I know....but it would be to his benefit to learn English ASAP.

Great. Is that in writing anywhere on the USCIS website or somewhere? Did yours do the interview in Arabic?

Actually my husband did his in English... but I do know you can do it in other languages as I did ask when it was time to prepare for his interview.

The catch? He needs to prove you can speak French or Arabic if he cannot do his interview in English. Otherwise, how do you two communicate? So show some emails, letters, whatever you can that are back and forth of you in another common language.

I think it'd be good if he could learn the common basic english like Hi how are you madam/sir Thank you Please May I etc.. It will show he's made an effort and he's respectful ! Those are what I personally first taught my spouse

my spouses french and arabic was fluent but english was terrible but he learned really fast. I think if you can speak arabic or french you can definitely learn english easily

You can request the interview how you want it BUT when i first started (the prccess) there was a girl also lived in Morocco with her husband thru the process when he went he didnt do english. They denied them (last i knew) saying how could you communicate with each other. Well they of course knew they had their way to communicate after all they were living together for some time, but that was their situation last i knew............

Oh most certainly I miss Morocco.

Most I miss the times I share with my husband there.

Very different life over there for most of our sweethearts.

We could never never think to live there or have any good opportunities there.

I also have children here, you cant live in peace leaving them or him

what is more heartbreaking is that I dont have the resources to go there as much as I'd like

the longest time apart was 10 1/2 mths...NEVER AGAIN

now it has been over 3

hands down america wins for opportunity, prosperity and good, almost easy livin

but morocco, of course, for it's laid back pace, cultural essence and exotic flavor will always remain more appealing

i am waiting to see him come here BUT as long as it has been taking, I may have to go there at the end of the summer.

I live in Algeria, so that is no help to you. But I know I found many women by going to the other embassies (US will not give out any info) like the British embassy. Also check out local universities. Or maybe post something on one of those Moroccan forums ... could help!
