Ok..i've not stressed till now

I've done really well up to this point and not overly stressed. Things have gone quite well and I couldn't be happier. Now I find myself worried. Kris had his interview Tues. It went well he got approved. He paid for the before noon delivery ok fine. Yesterday I find out that their systems were down that day so they gave him a hand-written receipt.. first red flag for me.. but i push the fear away. Nothing comes about and he isnt' in the system as of last night. Ok.. np.. i'll be patient. Well today he is in their system but is told the Embassy hasn't released his visa to SMS yet. WHAT?! I don't understand the reason for the delay and this causes me to be very concerned. The possibility of him getting it by tomorrow are slowing dwindling. This makes it even harder to see him being able to come by next wed. (since bank holiday monday) Anyone have any idea what the procedures are at the Embassy? Once they release does it have to go to a processing center for SMS? ugh my head hurts now.

I'm not so sure you can rely on the information they give you from their "system."

My recent example:

I called the info line at the London Embassy because I wanted to inquire where our Packet 3 might be.

Was told on Wed afternoon (21-May) that nothing had been sent out yet and they were still processing it. Packet 3 arrived today and was actually postmarked 20-May.

I also asked when our petition arrived at the embassy and she said 8-May which is the day it left NVC. According to DHL tracking in was delivered to the embassy on 12-May.

So that was two bits of info she told me that weren't accurate. Your passport/visa could be well on the way just like our Packet 3, even though they told you otherwise. Good luck!

Thing is.. it wasn't the Embassy he talked to but SMS.. that is why i'm worried. We want to book the flights but can't till he has visa in hand.. not to mention getting time off to pick him up. Ugh.

I hope you guys get your text soon!! I'm eagerly awaiting mine, my interview was last thursday and I was approved pending additional documents (a W2 and the medical results) all of which were at the embassy by Monday this week, i think I'm being half impatient and half worried sick :)

Hope you have something in time for Wednesday, I'm not on such a time scale (don't plan on leaving till after June 9th, our second anniversary)

Here's what happened to me, I cut and paste from the interview thread. Please note: SMS don't know what they are talking about and neither do the extortion line. You will get the visa soon, promise.

Not only did I not get a text, but they actually attempted delivery to my workplace and didn't even tell me. I was worrying that something had gone wrong with the visa issuance. (serves me right for being so blase about the actual interview ;) ).

Sent off my passport on a Friday, the following Wednesday I called the courier company - no, they had no doc's for me, Thursday I called the extortion line, the last info they had on my was the interview!!! - panic. Friday I give in and call the courier again. They had tried to deliver to me on Thursday!!! But wait, where was the text, the phone call, the card to say they had been there - nothing!!! How long were they going to hold on to my passport without telling me????? Asked them to deliver to me that day - that would be an additional £25 on top of the original charge. Had it delivered on the following Monday instead for no additional charge. They warned me that if they weren't able to deliver it this time, I would have to pay for a further attempt, however they refused to guarantee that the courier would call my mobile if he was stuck outside (our reception isn't always manned). GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! SMS couriers are SH!!!!!!!!!TTT :ranting:

Wow, I've been saving up that rant. Over now. Hope you're all having a lovely sunny day.

Wow.. ouch.. I'm hoping that is the case.. that they will deliver to the addy tomorrow w/o the text. What bothered me also is teh fact that on his interview date the embassy was swamped with people for the 'Camp America' and i'm fearful it may have delayed processing. NO clue and no way to do much at this point. Bad thing is.. all flight through JFK on Wed of next week are gone now.

well i feel a little better.. called the DOS and was told his visa was stamped earlier today so perhaps.. maybe.. SMS has it now.. <sigh> we are about to give up on trying for JFK and get him here asap as he gets it... at this point not sure the Temp would even get him a job for sure.

well one of the main things was.. would my employer accept the temp EAD.. well i found out today. Nope..so JFK isn't a big deal and i've seen flights for next week at about 440ish. So he just needs to get the blasted thing now.
