oh by the way, if i havent shared with the gang yet....i just think this would be useful...i took a note of all the prompts that have to be entered to speak with someone at USCIS....

dial 1-800-375-5283

Prompts 1-2-3-6

...and you get connected with a live person directly...another way to ignore all the crazy prompts..

ok, just spoke with some lady who was eating her words i could barely understand her.. hehe.. nway, she said that they might send me a RFE if they think that it wasn't clear enough and that i need to prove that he is my husband. she also looked at my case and said that everything seems to be okay. then she went on to mumble some more and i was just like ok.. watever.. then i asked her if they were even processing april filers and she said, "no." then she went on to mumble and mumble again.. and then she said that it wouldn't hurt if i send in a letter stating my error to CSC.. then i said thank you cuz i couldn't handle anymore of her word eating..

cmnb, thanks for the prompts!! they helped!

no problem...if i were u, i would send in the letter anyway before they decide on sending a RFE. it just covers you and looks nice that you are not trying to hide anything or not trying to provide any wrong info and that as soon as you realized the error you were proactive enough to take action...

KAHM,

I had called USCIS earlier this morning to see what the implications would be for providing incorrect information on this question. I was told that it would not cause an issue. The only part that is consoling to me is that I have provided all the correct information in the G-325a form for myself and my wife. Also all the supporting documents indicate that she is my wife and we have an ongoing relationship(my marriage certificate, our joint accounts, affidavits). I think this should cover me. To be on a safer side I am going to write a letter to USCIS, after i recieve my NOA, indicating that the error was due to my inability to understand the question correctly and that I hereby intend to correct my mistake after i reviewed the form again. I think that should cover it. What do you think?

....lol..its funny how theres only 3 folks from India on this forum and how all three of us misunderstood this question....lets just take it easy, all is going to be well (atleast hoping it would be) lets see...

cheers!

cmnb,

I had entered 'None' for question 17, and while I was double checking for errors, I changed 'None' to my husband's name. Wow, I was proud of myself for catching this error and fixing it or at least I thought I fixed it...so much for that...

My NOA1 has the correct names for the petitioner and the beneficiary. I would think by reviewing rest of the information on I130 and G325a, the USCIS can determine the names of the petitioner/beneficiary...

i told the lady that my G-325a had all the correct info in it and it's not hard to piece all the info together.. i don't think she knew what i was talking about. but you are right, cmnb, better to send in the letter even if it might not make any difference.

Hi Guys,

I just got off the phone with USCIS and spoke to Jackie. She interpreted the question the same way I did. She said that I am correct with entering my husband's (beneficiary's) name as I need to list the person coming to the US. Also, she didn't think that a typo on this question will cause an issue since information about the petitioner/beneficiary is included in parts B and C of I130......

not sure but the way i would read the question: List husband/wife and all children of your relative.

Husband of my wife (my relative) is "myself" (petitioner)

I made the same mistake on question 17. However i do not think it is a big issue if our noa1 state the correct beneficiary. I think sending letters may cause more problems rather than solving any. I mean after all, we filled out g-325a. So i dont think we should really worry about it. Thats my opinion :)

hi guys,

i think i have made a tiny mistake on my form I-130. i dont know if this is a tiny mistake or a blunder. on question 17, i listed none instead of writing my name as the husband. do you think that would cause an issue?

i am worried :-(

I haven't been here for a while and this got me worried and I checked what I wrote. I wrote N/A on mine and got me thinking. The reason I wrote N/A is that the I-130 form is also used to file for petitioners' parents; or petitioners' children that are either 1-minor, 2-adult that are single and 3-adult that are married; or brother/sister that are single or married. So, i think question number 17 is applicable for those filing for their children that are married, or for their parents(either Mom or Dad that are still married), or for siblings that are married. Putting our names on question 17 will make things redundant (as if things aren't already with form G-325A  ), since it is already clear we are petitioning our spouse when we marked the box on the first question of the I-130.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I interpret question 17.
